a couple

Camera is generally a Nikon 990 that I use to document the disassembly of antique coin op games during restoration... I am in the market for a new digital SLR and am interested in what everyone is using. Ron is helping me find a good slide scanner, which should bring back a bunch of my old work. Any recommendations?

Michael

The Usual Suspects...

F1 GP - Indy '05. I especially like the one where all of the Ferrari mechanics literally stopped working to walk to the end of pit lane and check out the Pit Babes. Being World Champions and having the right to choose your garage placement does have its advantages.

Are looking for scanner or camera suggestions (or both)? How much do you want to spend?

This is an excellent thread. Photography is fun!

Hmmm, I don't know why I decided to post all verticle shots. Oh well...next time I'll post some horizontal shots.

It is a beautiful plane. It's also up for sale, unfortunately, after one of the two Twin Otters at the dropzone lost an engine while in Mexico over the winter, resulting in some expensive repair work.

This post is a little off subject but may be of interest to someone reading this thread.

Over the Christmas holidays, I stopped by Southwest Camera Repair Service in Springfield, Missouri -- my home town. Bill Anderson, the owner, had been in the business for about 50 years and he was ready to sell the entire store -- building and inventory. He had about 3000 cameras and many repair parts. His inventory included modern 35mm cameras back to old 11X14 studio view cameras, boxes full of film holders, parts chests for a wide range of vintage cameras, boxes full of flash bulbs, etc., etc., etc. He wanted to sell everything as a whole lot, including the building. He may have sold it by now... he mentioned donating everything to a museum for a tax write-off.

He gave me his card... Bill Anderson 417-369-1642

Sign of the times...

End of an era. The photo lab I worked at for five years (about 9 years ago) and learned much of my trade from, just closed its doors after over 20 years in business.
The lab finally lost the battle to the digital age. It was one of the biggest labs in the northeast, located in Boston. When I worked there, there was 22 employees and we printed for some very famous photographers including Annie Leibovitz, Mark Seliger, David Lachepelle (go to davidlachepelle.com his work is wild), etc. It was an amazing place to work, being exposed to that quality of photography was incredible and educational. I used to spend long hours after work printing and practicing my own photography.

How things change, I have not stepped foot in a photo lab in about two years and have not shot a roll of film in almost 4 years.
