I have an eagle pic that I need to dig up. But yours is cooler. Mine is on the Peace River in Florida. Darn thing swooped down and landed next to our campsite. He just sat there and watched us for 15 minutes.

If I did this correctly it is a picture of Jerr's car at Fed Ex Field in DC. Nikon D-70 with Tamron 70-300m zoom ASA set kind of slow (200?) I think shooting A (aperture mode) - no tripod just hand tracking the subject. One or two fair shots (well maybe just ok) and many throw away shots in this group. I can not access the history but it is imbedded in the original. The history and Nikon shot data may have made the down sizing if you can pull it off. I was switching from JPEG fine to Norm that day trying to get a bunch of shots. I would welcome comments and advice.

Cool pics of the plane kestrel! Funny how the car looks "so big" from the one angle!

Lotus Lust! Perhaps the most beautiful pics I have ever seen! I wish I were that talented. Any tips on what camera I could begin with??

In case you were, try your shutter priority when shooting motorsports. I think your panning results will be more consistant. Also much easier to freeze the action in shutter priority.

Practice makes perfect!

Awesome pics, KuroiSport.

I was organizing some pics that I took when I was testing the 5D and the 85 f/1.2 and was surprised by this pic:

Also, I went to Vegas in April and came away with these:

Nikon D50 with wide angle and telephoto zooms. (Or just telephoto)

You'll shoot great!

Wow, I am glad I clicked into this thread. There is some amazing work posted here.

I know nothing of photography and only have an off the shelf digital camera but here are a few that I like.

My Talon.

P40 Warhawk

Sorry, I don't have much without cars in them.

Thanks. You have some good ones too. I just went to the store to test out a 5D side by side with my XT. Even in the store with crappy florescent lighting the color, contrast and sharpness of the 5D blew the XT away. No need to 'pixel peep' to see the difference either. Not to mention the awesome view finder in the 5D. Think I'm going to make the jump soon, especially moving to Hawaii. Can't miss those sunsets!

Nice shots ekological. I'm going to Vega in August for about 4 or 5 days. I hope to get some nice shots like you did.

Moving to Hawaii? I'm jealous! The funny thing was that what sparked me to even look at dSLRs was looking at old pics of Hawaii taken with a Coolpix 950. I saw banding and posterization (sp?) and was disappointed with the limitation of the camera. At the time (Oct 2004), I didn't follow anything with cameras and went on steve's digicam site to see what was up and I stumbled upon the Canon 20D review. Before that, my memory of dSLRs was drooling over the Nikon D1 from years long past so I was quite surprised that the technology had become "affordable." But it's an addictive habit...I quickly got L lens fever and my lens ensemble consists of 16-35 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8 IS, 100-400, 85 f/1.2, 28 f/1.8 and 85 f/1.8 (purchased before the 1.2). But there weren't a lot of keepers with the 20D and some have said that the AF isn't that good. Of course, the 1D series has the best (as one would expect), but the 5D was also supposed to be up there. Hence me going to the Botanical Gardens to test the gear out. I have a picture of that same girl with the 85 f/1.2 shot wide open and her hair is razor sharp. I could never do that with the 20D.

Then there are also pics like this from Boston:
http://www.pbase.com/ekosan/image/58516952/original

I also picked up a 9.2 megapixel LCD the other day. I remember reading about this monitor years ago when it was $10,000. I was interested in the Apple 30" display and did some research with using it with a PC and stumbled across a post that was something along the line of, "If you want the best, check out the Viewsonic VP2290b." I did a quick check on pricegrabber and saw that refurb'ed units generally sold for $6000 through retailers, but the thing that caught my eye was it showed for $900 through Viewsonic themselves! I thought, "What the heck?," and placed an order. $985 shipped. After I received it, Viewsonic must have realized it was an error and now that same refurb'ed monitor sells for $5900 on their website.

It's kind of nice opening an old 20D picture at full res and still having an inch of empty space to the left and right of the picture

Thanks! Please share your shots when you get back. Since I was there for a bachelor party, I didn't really get to use my gear. No night photos with a tripod or anything like that. Those pics were taken at 8am while everyone else was sleeping (including most of Vegas which prompted two friends to ask, "How did you take those pictures with no people in them?!")

I'm still learning with all this stuff as well as "developing" the photo via post processing. I played with the curves in Photoshop and hopefully I didn't go too crazy and make the pictures look too fake. Some people look at my pics and say that the tones are way off. I don't think I'm going for accuracy so much as eye pleasing appearances..
