Paper weight

so my overclocked 8800GTX finally gave out... I'm actually surprised it took almost 2 years to do it(electro-migration is a bitch )

so I am running in VGA mode right now and the resolution is killing me
I just ordered a 9600 GT(~100 bucks) to hold me over until I build a new computer.

anyone want a $600 paperweight?

just buy the $200 equivalent with the 9800gtx. Then you have a duplicate paperweight in about 3 years.

ahh the joys of electronics

I got the 9600 GT because I want to build a very fast "mobile" computer in a few months and I am a cheap ass... plus I will end up giving away my current computer and I don't want to cannibalize it...

I priced out all the parts I want currently and it comes out to 2k(920 i7 cpu, i7 MB(ouch) that lets me over clock the 920 beyond the 965, 6gb tri-channel(I know it does nothing) DDR3, Vista*gag*, 280(I know ATIs are slightly faster right now but the catalyst drivers don't do what I need them to do) 2 500GB barracudas, etc etc) ... when that # hits ~1500 I will probably buy, should only take a couple months, especially since there should be a decent drop after christmas

fast cars and fast computers will rob you blind... but I love em and besides what else am I gonna spend money on?

I wonder how long its gonna take for 45nm transistors to migrate into graphics cards... they didn't start making 65nm stuff till about when 45nm cpu's came out so probably gonna have to wait for 32nm chips

I think the new 9800 GTX+ is 55nm. I've been looking to get one to SLI with my normal GTX.
