Photo Radar: Zapped while making a right turn

I was making a right turn while the light was red and noticed a flash. Could it be the photo radar thought I was running the red? Do they review the photos before sending out tickets? I'm wondering if I should be expecting something in the mail in a few weeks. I'll fight it but hoping I don't have to go through the hassle.

The photos are reviewed; it will be tossed. Don't worry about it at all.

You should be OK....there's a camera that gets me 3-4 days a week on the way to work, and I've never received a ticket. It seems like the closer I stop to the white line, the more apt I am to set it off. They are reviewed.

They're not reviewed here and I wouldn't count on them being reviewd in CA.

Welcome to TX - smile and say "Cheese!"

it's legal to make a right on red (here in Cali), so hopefully the photos show your wheels turned and they'll toss it before trying to ticket you for it.
- or you'll be able to easily fight it.

...and hopefully you have no front plate as well?

Hopefully you weren't moving before you decided to turn. I got a $75 ticket mailed to me for 'running' a red light when I didn't come to a complete stop before making a right turn on red...

It's just a small fine. $50 here in NY. Violation isn't designated to any driver. Unless you can conclusively show you aren't breaking the law, I wouldn't bother.

I know the redlight camera in the Walnut, CA area. If you make a rolling right hand turn when the light is red, the fine is smaller than just running the light outright. I dunno if points get assessed on your license though for right hand turns infractions.

Thanks for the link. Took a look and it's likke $380 for running a red and $160 or so for rolling a red. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

The fine shouldn't concern you too much, its the points against your drivers license is what should concern you more... When i went to traffic school a few years ago to wipeout some points on my license, 75% of the people in there were senior citizens who received red light camera tickets...

You guys get points in CA? That stinks.

Here, since there's not an officer witnessing it, they can't even count it as a moving violation. It's considered a civil offense here.

Of course, they're ticketing people illegally, but the know it and continue to regardless:

Texas Red Light Camera Offenses Require Imagination

It's $75 in Dallas, and that's about the minimum an attorney will charge for traffic, so most won't even touch a camera citation. They just advise to pay it (since it's not a moving violation) or pro se it.

Got the ticket in the mail today.

Any attorneys on board that can advise if mailing this notice constitutes proper service? Also, the ticket is issued by the company contracted to administer the ticket and says "Do not contact the court." I'm wondering if that is also valid and the company is in Arizona (jurisdiction issues?).

And yes, I got some of those idea for this site:
Home - Fighting Red Light Camera Tickets

I also don't see a traffic school option which is kind of strange since if I were cited by an office, that would be an option.

Is it a real ticket or just a violation notice? I got a 'Traffic Violation Notice' back in July after rolling through a red light on a right turn and ignored it after reading all the stuff out there on the web about these cameras. So far so good, nothing came up on my license renewal and nothing on my registration renewal either and no follow up letters. Fingers crossed!

the ticket for red light cameras and speed cameras are just fines. So just pay the fine, no point in going to school over it because no points.

Talked to Mark Scrader with the Law Office of Sherman Elison (the Traffic Ticket Attorney) and he said the "Traffic Violation Notice" was a "Snitch Ticket" which is not actually a ticket by a means by which they get you to incriminate yourself. He said it could be ignored. IF the city decides to follow up, I will get a notice to appear in court at which point, I can gon LA Superior Court's site and request to go to traffic school.

There's some helpful information on his site:
Los Angeles California Traffic Red Light Camera & Radar Ticket Attorney

and the site previously mentioned on this thread:
Los Angeles California Traffic Red Light Camera & Radar Ticket Attorney

And as a precaution, I'm also double checking with another attorney who focus on traffic type of cases.
