Did the story have a complete arc or stand alone enough to justify someone like me buying the DVD set?

So very, very true....

Another really great show IMO: Sportsnight.

Never quite caught on unfortunately, I think it only had a few seasons.

Sharp writing and a great cast including Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Robert Guillaume and Peter Krause

the series is awesome - witty - the movie is one of the best.

another series that is more serious, but better character, some story lines really get you (IMHO) is Space: above and beyond:

I've actually seen a SR-71 in person at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in VA. It is AWESOME in person, no other words to describe it.

My wife's father used to fly tankers that refueled SR-71s! I finally got to see one in person about a month ago, at a museum in Eglin, FL.

Love the SR-71 - at the Farnborough Airshow in '86 one did a fly past "on the way to some clandestine mission" according to the announcer... then it LANDED!!!!! Unheard of and unexpected - what an amazing sight

Back in the '80s/90s I worked at Kadena AFB in Okinawa Japan when the SR-71 was deployed there. There they were called Habu (after a local poisonous water snake).

They were started with huge crate motors on a little cart with the drive shaft going straight up. The SR-71 would leak fuel on the ground because the seals needed the heat from flying to seal up. You could always tell when an SR-71 was going to take off from the noise. Not from the SR-71 itself, but from the KC135 refueling plane which was fully loaded with fuel taking off right before the SR-71. The SR-71 used so much fuel getting off the ground that it basically needed to be refueled right after take off.

The pilots of the SR-71 were actually classified as astronauts.

It is a VERY cool plane.

Hmm speaking of single-season wonders, did anyone ever watch Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? Aaron Sorkin produced it after The West Wing, but it folded because it was "too smart for primetime television." A true shame. It's hilarious watching how much better Matt Perry is in Studio 60 compared to Friends; it's like day and night. Because of the big names involved, there were quite a few hilarious cameos too, including the abovementioned Felicity Huffman, John Goodman, various musical acts etc.

^^^^This was one of my favorite shows ever. I was wondering what happened to it.

Oh, and Firefly should have never been taken off the air...

good site, thanks.

I saw it in Ohio. It was a bit scary looking, but I loved it! That museum takes > 1 day; was terrific.

No armaments on blackbird, right?

studio 60, sportsnight and firefly were all among my favorites. The Studio 60 New Orleans episode was excellent.

Right outside of Skunkworks in Palmdale, CA, there is an open to the public museum. What's better than 1 Blackbird? How about 2, plus models, a U2, that crazy drone they tried to deploy from a blackbird...
