I was "spoofed" (their word) through PayPal about 5 years ago for $500- I called, and PayPal imdeiately refunded the funds to my account-
$300 is worth, at least, filing claims with everyone involved- That sucks though-

I'm begining to hate PayPal!!
Welcome to the club man, my case is simpler and I'm very pissed off. I sold a computer on the 5th so PayPal told me the same, they need to hold the funds until delivery which it sounds fair to me but here's my problem. The computer was delivered on the 14th of this month (I summited the tracking number to PayPal) plus the buyer already posted a 100% positive comment on Ebay and I still have to wait till the 26th of the month. So the moral of the story is PayPal charged me $28.50 for the transaction, I have to wait almost a month to get paid
Screw you PayPal, our relationship is over!!

I had a case for $8500 a couple years ago where I was the seller and Paypal told me I won the $$, but I had to wait 180 days to receive it (lol?). Fast forward 6 months, they told me I never won it and they made an error in saying I did. They refunded it to the other guy's account.
Then they closed my account for "suspicious activity". I will never use Paypal again.

Just wanted to update this thread with a happy ending. Paypal apparently realized this guy was trying to defraud me, and released the funds to my account. I won't be completely satisfied until the funds have cleared into my checking account (and even then can they take it out of my checking account without permission?), but it seems Paypal did the right thing this time. So I think I escaped with just a scare. Thanks for all the good advice, I will be putting it to use from now on.

I don't ship until money clears into my bank account.
Ebay keeps buyers secret now allowing free rein to shilling and other frauds. I have spotted people bidding up all items of a certain type artificially raising prices. Impossible to spot on Fraudbay now. Many people are boycotting paypal and ebay because of gratuitous banning of items for political reasons like holsters, etc. There are many alternatives to ebay now because of this. Had a package vanish in usps after shipper failed to pay for insurance I bought. I filed a claim quickly and had it replaced. Probably usps fault. Seller not happy though. I was interested in something in the uk recently. No response to emails so I wrote ebay. No response of any kind from either EVER. I don't buy or sell with anyone I don't have a phone number for also. |
