Red Bull Air Race World Series
Has anyone seen this before? I've caught it on TV a few times now. It's amazing, like an autoX for airplanes. I have the series set to record, it's hard to stop watching it once you start.

I think this is what most of them are using.
Zivko Edge 540 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia edit: yep, "The Zivko Edge 540X is the most common aircraft used in the Red Bull Air Race World Series, in fact all champions of the World Series have flown this aircraft."

Question for someone who might know... I've seen almost every aerobatic aircraft at airshows with this device on the left wing. What is it, and what is the purpose?

If you are so inclined, start up Microsoft Flight sim and fly the Extra 300. Take a look out to the left and you will see it. it is very handy.

Yeah, they need to have that device that measures the angle of the plane. If you enter a gate at the wrong angle, you get penalized.
