Like the other airing, this is a retread of old segments with new US friendly intros. The intros are oddly flat in my opinion. This episode covered (from memory):
Jaguar XJ6 w/ V6, Some odd looking minivan like car, and the Toyota Pickup destruction (one of my personal favs.) Another segment or two, didn't remember them...

I thought the US versions of the show were done? The 9th series finished with its 6th episode which aired last Monday in the UK. They'll be back in the summer according to the BBC lady's accouncement after Jeremy Clarkson said "farewell."

no more Top Gear

Sadly it seems confirmed. But who knows... maybe they'll have a change of heart.

My understanding that Clarkson's comment was intended to mean that the show was coming back, but it won't be this summer. From what I've heard, their lease of Dunsfold airfield is expired and they will be forced to move, resulting in a delay of season 10. I'd heard several rumors about contract negotiations concerning the presenters, but sources in the BBC indicate that all three will be back for next season. JC has also made comments about testing a bunch of hot hatches for the next season.

Confirmation that Top Gear, including JC will be back in the autumn.

Yes, you are right. In what seems to be a will they, or will they not? Situation... it sounds like they're coming back.

I have it on pretty good word that they will be back, 100%. Clarkson simply wrote that they wouldn't be back in the summer, and it was blown way out of proportion.

BBC sez US version of Top Gear in the works...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6539111.stm

And they still claim a new series (US translation: season) will return in the autumn...

The US version has been "in the works" since they ran a bunch of old episodes (americanized for our consumption, read toned down) on dicovery channel. Frankly, I don't think that TG is ready for prime time in US. Too many people may be offended by their crass sense of humor, or lack thereof and not 'get' the show. They don't just make fun of us in the US, they make fun of everybody.

The new show, if it goes will be "Americanized" to a point, as in translating things like "boot" into "trunk." There's research being done right now into the the psychology of the American audience, and what humor will translate. Clarkson and company, for example, are very fond of "taking the piss" out of one another. Will that translate here? Perhaps in the more sophisticated markets. Another big thing is Clarkson and Wilman's method of "winging it and worrying about the consequences later" that makes the show exciting and somewhat affordable. Over here, there are procedures for procedures and that may appear as tiresome to the Producers.

The problem is that with the modification of the show they'll loose us, the fans of its true format, banter, abuse etc. Can you imagine the outcry here from the vertically challenged if clarckson calls hammond 'the hamster', or claiming that he's a half a person like he did in the last show? etc. They may be 'better' than the current crop of car shows here but how many of us would rather watch the UK feed off the torrent? That would translate into lower ratings and the demise of the show.
Or the presenters would compromise their standards and talk 'differntly' about the cars for our market's unique flavor. Then they'll loose credibility with us, the fans, and ratings leading to the demise of the show.

They're most likely very aware of all this and probably not willing to compromise much past the vernacular.

It said the US show would be the same as the UK version, but focusing on American cars, such as Cadillacs.
Oh that's just great, like I'm going to want to watch hours of programming of them reviewing cars with ketchup-like suspension, mustardy ergnomics and powertrains that remind them of horseradish. It's the European cars I want to hear about.

Well as long as they're still on the air in the UK I'll just watch that instead.

it's a start and better than nothing. I guess we'll all have to see how it really is if they ever show it here again.
