No more low-res youtube picture quality, now that you can see it full length in crystal clear TV image quality.

Cheers.

damn, ya beat me to it! I was surprised as hell when I saw that! Lets hope they'll show more and include more recent episodes.

That's how I watch 'em. I bought a cheap-ass Philips DVD player that will play MPEG and DIVX encoded movies. I just burn the downloaded file on a CD and that's it. The 700mb rips actually look good, even on my 60" screen.

Actually, I tell a lie. I now just stream them directly to my Mac Mini that is hooked up to my TV. Same principle.

Top Gear

WE finally got TOp Gear in the US on the Science Channel. Saw the Exige show (the N/A). Stig's test lap was done on a WET track. Pretty impressive.

These are older episodes recycled for the US audience.

Using airtunes or just a airport network? I have an older Twin G4 tower that will be retired next year which I'm thinking about making into the brain of a entertainment center.

What's sad is that the normal in the studio banter is toned down for us. It's sad to think that they didn't think we could 'take' their ribbing and chiding of each other and others. The one big difference I noted was that there wasn't much US automaker bashing on the 'americanized' version as there is on the 'normal' one.
Speaking of which, whatever happened to the US version of TopGear being produced at the LV Speedway?

No idea. In one of the issues of Top Gear magazine, they made reference to the US version, including a pic of the American Stig. That was a couple of months ago though, and I haven't seen anything about it lately.

I leave all my videos in a shared folder on my PC upstairs. I then placed an alias to that folder in the 'Movies' folder on my Mac Mini. I had to install the Xvid codec, but now I can browse that shared folder with Front Row, which presents the episodes in full-screen 1080p. You could do virtually the same thing for free with VLC, just without the Front Row remote. 802.11g is plenty for these rips.

Oh, joy. Can't wait, it'll probably be kind of like the U.S. version of The Iron Chef compared to the original. A poor substitute, in other words. Is William Shatner involved, do you think ?

Toned down? Why? I think "The Chappelle Show" showed us that the lines are now crossed, stomped on, then set on fire. I dont think they should tone down anything

I think you mean upscaled to 1080. Top Gear, afaik, isn't filmed in HD. BBC = cheapskates

Oh yes, absolutely. I was surprised to find that the Mac does a very nice job of upscaling.

Actually, now that I think about it, maybe it's good that Top Gear is only in standard def. Imagine Jeremy's teeth in HD....
