Wrong coast, I'm an Easterner. I will say to find a local that is connected into the real estate market - NOT a realtor, they will tell you now is the right time to buy no matter what. Commercial property is a fickle market and if there is a commercial real estate collapse in the near future you might want to wait to pick up some cheap stuff later on. If there is no collapse now might be the right time to buy. If there is a collapse and you buy now it could severely hurt the short term (5-10 years) market value of the asset.

You could also look into REIT's. Real estate investment trust - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia As with any investment do your homework on the investments the fund is making and also the people who are the managers of the fund. Fraud and Ponzi schemes are everywhere.

That about sums up my thoughts on the investment as well... an agent just dropped off a flyer about a property in foreclosure and of course it is about the best deal anyone will see for like... ever... who know's it may be

I hadn't thought about that(REIT)... thats why I love to research and ask as many questions to as many people I can about anything... even if I don't come across as "the smartest man on the internet"

Thanks for your help it is appreciated!

Jeez:

House health care bill over $1 trillion for decade - Yahoo! News

Tonight as I was pulling in my driveway, I was listening to Pelosi on the radio in a news conference about the health care bill and medicare specifically.

A reporter asked how much it was all going to cost, and how it was going to be paid for.

Her answer was that 1 million senior citizens would be affected and that she would not answer the question about the cost or payment of same.

Her words.

Jeez.

She also said that allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire next year is not a tax increase, but merely taking away prior tax decreases!

Yes. Mentally ill people say such things from time to time.

It's funny, we have to cut funding to Medicare to pay for... a vastly expanded Medicare. This is the legislative equivalent of a perpetual motion machine.

The entire Federal Government is a perpetual motion machine.

Roubini Says Carry Trades Fueling ?Huge? Asset Bubble (Update3) - Bloomberg.com

Synopses - Because of the effectively zero borrowing costs in the US people are borrowing USD to invest in the carry trades. Once the interest rates start climbing up people will very quickly reverse the trend and drastically increase the value of the dollar.

Quote:
Roubini said he sees a bubble in emerging-market equities and that gains in some developing-nation currencies are becoming “excessive.” The rally in oil “is not justified by the fundamentals,” he said.

AP story yesterday:

Turns out in compiling the number of 'saved' and 'created' jobs the stimulus plan can claim, they count raises as a saved job.

If a company or agency received any stimulus money, they could count any job for which they gave someone a raise as a 'saved' job.

And, when asked about it, the administration actually tried to defend it.

I about fell out of my chair when I saw the story on MSNBC's website:

Stimulus watch: Pay raise counted as saved job - Economy in Turmoil- msnbc.com

Even so, a sure bet Matthews, Olberman or Maddow didn't talk about it. If this had happened in the last administration, it would be the focus of all their shows for a month.

My favorite bumper sticker during the Bush years was "If You're Not Outraged, You're Not Paying Attention."

Time for a second printing.

Edit: This just In:

Jobless rate tops 10 pct. for first time since '83 - Yahoo! News

lotusforsale, Robert Reich knows better than we do. This stimulus is working so well, he thinks we need a second one. I couldn't agree more. Borrowing our way out of debt is a terrific idea.

Nothing, from the Enron-style accounting to the unmeasurable "jobs saved/created" stat which this Administration invented, surprises me anymore, and we're less than a year in.
