Called a swedger and pronounced "swager"?

Does anyone remember the 1970s show "Liar's Club"? David Letterman was sometimes on it, along with other TV personalities like Fannie Flagg, Bettie White, and so on?

Tracy is close. I think Smiles has it; not sure about the name.

It was for flaring the ends of lead plumbing to prepare for a patent joining fixture. The method was invented for making repairs in areas where a blowtorch could not be used. Here is a patent drawing showing how the system worked:

Sounds like a form of circumcision to me, in essence. I win.

Yep. McLaren wanted to come to the factory to demonstrate the recorders. We received a VIP tour. It was a very unreal thing. The building (as explained to us) is designed to impress the customer (sponsor with millions of dollars) and that it does. We were expected and the receptionist knew us by name (they don't get a lot of visitors).

Funny side story, you can't bring in cameras of course. But we brought in our video recorders. And we ended up demonstrating them, including how to mount them on a Formula 1 car (there was a perfect place in the side pod). So we left the factory with all kinds of video on a CF card.

This trip including the same thing at Renault F1 with a private tour and we stood 20 feet away as they ran the F1 car through the rpm ranges. We also toured S.P.A. and went to Hethel for a private track day and tour, Silverstone, Goodwood Revival and a few other car places. An amazing trip really.
