Anyone have any experience with any of them? I want to set one up in my house for when I am out of the country for 2 months. Just want to be able to go to a site and check in every now and then.

You log in and can view them on anything enabled with a browser. If you'd like I can get you the brand.

I have a few Panasonic BL-C30a units... small wireless remote-controllable web camera that has motion detection. It can email you a freeze frame if something trips the motion detection.
BL-C30A - PetCams - Shop and Compare at Panasonic I don't know why they market it as a "PetCam"... maybe it sounds less creepy... ![]() Here's a current screen shot of my apartment in NYC (I'm on the other coast right now):

![]() It's a Panasonic BL-C131. It's "wireless", but the only wire is the power wire, and it's around maybe $250? Depends on your budget, but in the network security camera market, that's actually really affordable. What he likes is that he can even access the feed from his iPhone, and can even control the camera from there. As in, you can move it left or right wirelessly, since it uses the standard 802.11 connection found on most routers. It's also really easy to use and really good quality. And there's no monthly fees. Naturally what isn't good is that it won't be too discreet. But it's the length and width of my palm or so, and the depth of maybe a baseball/softball. So it's actually pretty small in comparison to most things on the market. Unless you're willing to shell out tens of thousands for some infrared camera the size of a pin. I just got off the phone with him, and to be honest he didn't really have any negative problems with it, but if he remembers some I'll let you know. He works in the Network security field, so if even he loves this, you're going to be really happy with it I think. On amazon, The majority of the people gave it 4 or 5/5 reviews, with some of those annoying reviewers that don't know what they're talking about giving them 3 or below. And that's only 40/207 reviews. 55/207 gave 4, and 113/207 gave 5! So overall, it's definitely something to consider. Sorry for the "essay", I just wanted to be clear on everything. ![]()

Basically most Panasonic personal Network Cameras will keep you satisfied. Either one of these would be good I think.

that looks like a newer version of my cam... with sound now too?
They're great units... and at least the one I have can be hardwired to your network as well, if desired.

Also, how much did yours cost mate? Because I think mine doesn't have the motion detector, but I didn't ask about that. Although, if yours is 299 like it says on Panasonic, mines 50 bucks cheaper, but I think the motion detector would be nice. Maybe a little DIY project for the winter. ![]() Correction: I looked at Amazon, sound will work nicely in Internet Explorer, however, the picture will show up in Firefox, but no sound. So if you have IE, you should use that.

Its like going from an 06 to an 07 Elise. So yeah, Cory, you're probably gonna want the BL-C131, or even APK's, since they're essentially the same.

The Linksys security is good, you have to log in from a computer though....cheap enough ! about 100. each.

Not sure how you want to access it, but this $5 iPhone app looks pretty cool: Review: iCam ? Who knew watching your own stuff could be so fun? : Macenstein
The push notification when it senses motion might come in handy. |
