Wrecked my M3 Not a good day!!! BUCKLE UP

Recently I bought a 1998 m3 and it was a cherry. I bought it because with my new business I needed a car that got good gas milage, was fun to drive and was SAFE. Thank god I did.

I was in West Virginia on my way back to the beach in a heavy down poor and flipped the car 8 times.(or so the guy behind me said.

I was on a bridge going about 58, the posted speed limit was 70, when all of a sudden the car spun.

I have driven on the track many times done countless HPDE and I have never had a situation like this where I was driving straight and it just spins.

I think I hit black ICE the temp was around 30 Degrees but it was raining/ sleet.

After the car came to a stop on its roof I crawled out of the back windsheild with not a scratch on me and thanked god I was alive. Very sore today but all in all I am just happy to be alive. If I had not had my seatbelt on I would have been DEAD!!!! BUCKLE UP.

Thank you god for saving me !!

Wow. Glad you survived!

I first looked at the pics before reading the story, and thought you came off that bridge overhead.

Ahh man ... that sucks! Glad to hear your alive with limited damage!

black ice is some nasty stuff. One side of the car could be in it and the other side isn't causing some bad conditions and scary moments.

Glad your okay. Bridges are notorious for developing black Ice.

I've seen news footage where they setup a camera on a bridge and wait for the carnage.

BMW's are safe cars.

Glad you are OK.

Extra points for difficulty on this maneuver. Looks like you stuck the landing.

Yikes, that's a pretty serious accident. Those E36's are pretty stout, I'm glad I never had an accident in mine to find out though. You should be able to find a replacement pretty easily. Glad you walked away from it.

Wow - I'm glad that you made it through without a scratch. Take good care of yourself though, just to be sure.

Black ice is bad stuff, and those conditions sound/look prime for it. From the description I would look to the tires. Are you running something appropriate for those temps? Summer performance tires just don't work under 45 degrees. If you weren't, it might be something to add to the list for the next BMW. Go with a Performance Winter tire such as the Dunlop 3Ds, not an "all-season".

Now that I got that out of the way....

NNNNNNNNNNNNNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Poor E36!

I do always choose the M3 when I am out late on weekends when I know there is a higher % of chance of an accident. I take the M3 instead of the daily driver because it is maneuverable and can better protect in an accident. It helped once so far. Someone turned left from the right lane in front of me.. I was doing 60, if I was not driving the M3 I would have T-Boned them.

Whew!

Without a scratch too? I'd step right back into another Bimmer after that.

I rolled a Toyota truck one time and it help up fantastic, certainly exceeded my expectations and the 2 of us came out with only a bruise on one, scratch on the other. I've had worse playing basketball. It was pretty mangled, but the space around where we sat had very little deflection.

Cheers to you, you magnificent lucky bastard!

(just came in from driving my E36 too, which has been a fantastic, fantastic car for 14 years now)
