195-width A048s on base 5.5" wheels?

When it comes time to replace my tires I'd like to go up a little in the width in the front. Is anyone running the 195-width A048s in the front on the base 5.5" wide wheels? I did a search and didn't see anything. Thanks!

I would not recommend putting the A048 on the 5.5" rim.

Your handling performance will suffer since the rim is narrow relative to the tire. The tire wall towards the outer side of any turn will give a lot as you go into the turn causing roll on the outer edge, and a jittery, imprecise handling feel. (Others more expert than I could describe it better, I'm sure.)

I'm running 195 048s on stock 5.5" rims 'cause I'm too impatient to wait for my 6.5" rims to arrive from England. It isn't ideal but it isn't too bad either.

The tires are bagging a bit and I can feel them moving around but they are predictable and the extra grip overcomes the other disadvantages.

Yokohama's fact sheet for the tires does say that 195s can be fitted to a 5.5" rim.

5.5 “ is the narrowest wheel you can mount the 195/50R16 tires and on the extreme, 7” is the widest per the Tire and Rim Association Standards. Overall handling performance will be affected, particularly the steering response will not be as good as being mounted on a 6.5" wide wheels. Wear characteristics will also change.

Sure, a 6.5" wheel is better, but if he doesn't have one...
