AD07 vs AD048

Right now im running AD07 205/225. I find that grip is phenomenal comparing to other street tyres

Last season i used to have 048s 195/225. However i cant compare my track times as i have a turbo now.

I wonder if some of you used both tyres and can give any feedback on the lap times

at least 3-5 seconds quicker on a 1.5 mile course with the 48's .......I've run both on the same track. The 48's are great. run them at 26 lb hot all around

Yeah.... because you can get AD07 205s.... I'd get 'em too -- if I could....

i think just the surface area on the sport vs non sport package makes a huge difference in grip. I run the AD07s on the street and A048s on the track, i can't imagine running the AD07s on the track given the understeer i get but apparently some of you guys do it...the stickiness factor on the A048s is significantly more than the Ad07s

R compound vs. street compound tires arent they?
if so, there should be a giant difference.

I have run both the base/AD07 and track pack/048 at Lime Rock (1.5 miles) on the same car. A year apart though.

I saw a 1.5-2 sec difference (1.5 mile track). Both setups were lots of fun and very drivable on track. Understeer, though more pronounced w base setup, was only really an issue on long slow corners; the rest of the time you can easily avoid it by good corner entry.

+1

I've only run on the AD07s - but I have a blast with the base set up. True, I'm sure I'm dealing with more understeer - but I think in general it's made me a more precise driver, and not that much slower than drivers running the 048s.

Similar results to other posters...

Moving from stock (touring..? ) AD07 sizes (175 fronts) to sport pack A048 sizes (195 fronts) but in the M compound got me 2 seconds per lap on a 1 mile course.

"Little difference," and, "World apart," can be describing the same thing.

Let's assume you're turning a 60 second laptime somewhere. You slap on the A048 tires and start turning a 58 second laptime.

Do you say, "Oh, it's only two measly seconds?"

Or do you say, "Damn! Two whole seconds!!!"

val, truth is what a tire can do, and what a given person can do with a tire are 2 worlds apart.
I again stick to my prior post saying a street compound tire and an R compound tires are worlds apart in what the tire can do. what drivers can do with the tires is a different story. pushing a tire, and pushing a tires to its traction limits is an art. I dont claim to be an artist.

Btw, are michelin pilot cup r-compound? Many people put them in the same league as ad07, but they look a lot more aggressive at least from the outside
