Well sh*t! I just got some AD07's for my M3 a week ago. They didn't have anything about AD08's on their site..

Ditto EricH, even though I wanted a more all-season street tire, I am spoiled by the grip of my A048s and just got a new set. Oh well, at least we have time to hopefully get some feedback on the AD08s before our next purchase.

Looks like they'll be coming out mid-2009. Too bad I'll need tires in mid-January.

Yeah, that was my problem dfa2100. Only I needed them two weeks ago after our last track day!

My big question on sizes- will they come out with 195/50/16, that we could use.

I hear you guys about the timing. Ended up getting another set of 048 a few months before the 888's came out.

Hey LarryB, its like buying a new computer (or Lotus). If you wait for the latest and hotest model to come out, you'll never buy one! Manufacturers of these products have us addicts figured out. "There hooked, so they'll bite at first chance!"

Yokohama stopped making A048s many month ago. They've been replaced by the A050 although they don't have an LTS version or a size for the standard front wheel.
Linkage. I hope your Japanese is better than mine.

The tread on the A050's looks like my motorcycle tires. I like the look of the pattern on the '48 better. It looks less "flowery"

LMAO I tried to babelfish it, needless to say it did not work:

"ADVAN A048 縺 [yo] 鬮 俶 [a] 閭 [su] 繧 embankment mosquito 呎 value 縺 encouragement ▽ imperial concubine "

I noticed they had sizes for the A050's. They don't have the original 195s but do have 205/50R16.

That site also did not list the A08's, so still no sizing on that one.

Nope. The Yokohama reps in Japan told me no plan for a size to fit the Elise anytime soon. That was in January. Hopefully they changed their mind and bring us something.

As an alternative, check out the RE-11's. I am pretty happy with the set I am running right now.

Wow -- is it really true that they stopped making AO48s? What other tires are available in the stock '05 LSS sizes, then?

No. We are talking about the AD08, replacement for the AD07. Afaik, the A048 is still being made though they already have a replacement for it in Japan, the A050. No real date that I have heard when that makes it over.

Tirerack test of the latest extreme performance street tires.

When I add a link to Tirerack it sends you to autoguide? What is that about?

Go look up the AD08 on Tirerack and it has the latest test.

There's a few size combinations that might work:

F: 225/50r16
R: 245/45r17
The 225/50r16 is very tall and requires a taller 245/45r17 to maintain an appropriate tire size ratio. (3.1%, compared to 5.2% for LSS) You're also pushing the boundaries of fitment with stock fenders.

+1 sizing
F: 215/40r17
R: 255/35r18
Almost the exact same rolling diameter and F/R ratio as standard LSS. But, most people don't want to run 17/18's.

-1 sizing
F: 205/50r15
R: 225/50r16
The 205/50r15 is small, just over a half inch in diamter smaller than a standard LSS front. But, when paired with the 225/50r16 it has a 7.1% size ratio, which is acceptable.

The Bridgestone RE-11 should be a better fit in the extreme performance tire category. They have a 205/45r16 and 245/40r17 which is just about ideal. Tire performance is almost identical and comes down to driver preference.

Rear Wheels/7.5J x 17 - 225/45R17 Yoko A048

Per what I have read in other threads, I was going to try Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec in 205/50/16 and 235/45/17 sizes.
...a retailer

Not the exact same size, but hopefully grips about the same as AD07/AD08s. A048s totally suck for the street.

For track use I would go back to A048s (or A050s when avail), or R888s.

Why do you say that? For the record, I've switched over to R888s, for street and track. I've driven in torrential downpours as well as rainy track days on the R888s... fantastic... only deep standing water catches them out (as well as pretty much any performance tire).
