Alignment problem or normal?

I got a nice used 2006 Elise w/o track pack and in 3 months/5000 miles managed to go through 2 sets of rear tires and one set of fronts. The tires are Yoko AD07's

I have to live my whole year in 3 months because I deploy for the military and I drive the car hard, everywhere, everyday. I have one of the best windy roads in the area starting at the end of my street and it is driving to the cars limits everyday.

As far as how the car handles, this is my first Lotus so I have none to compare to, but it does not seem to push unless I have my front tire pressure too low. The rears are pretty easy to kick out on 15~20 hairpin corners when turning in off the gas, but that maybe poor driving style. I have found my personal best pressures to be 25 for the fronts and 27.5 for the rears.

My best friend has the Nissan GTR which I have to compete with daily and I would have to say while his car is amazing and pretty much beats my car in everyway, it definately does not have the feel or the emotion of my Elise.

But back to my question, since I am inexperianced with this car and these tires, is this normal wear considering it is driven extremely hard or do I have a alignment problem that is aggrevating my tire wear.

I am planning on going with 048's or R888 for my next round of tires. I make good money, so I don't care how much they cost. And I got a GTR breathing down my neck everyday so any advantage would be awesome.

Thanks, in advanced.

Darrin

Update, the rears were half worn when I got it, so basically 1.5 rears, They wear evenly also across the tire.

For comparison, I went through a pair of rears in 12K miles and I'm still on my original fronts at 17K

The rears wear out much quicker than the fronts.
The new tires will wear quicker in general, but probably not more quickly if you are on them hard as they will be sticking better.
The rear toe can affect the wear, so if you get an alignment that should be checked. If the wear is even then the camber is OK, but you cannot readily tell about the toe.
Good luck on your deployment.

I also had a great place to drive the twisties, but the road surface was so rough, that it ate my tires.

Try General tires. They are cheap at $100 a tire, and they really do work great.

no justification in the world to put cheap tyres on the Elise

Dang! I've only put less than 500 miles on my Toyo R888's and the rears are 3/4 (evenly) worn (autocrossing), and properly aligned at a race setup shop

The factory alignment is often quite off. I had a similar problem with the tires wearing fast. I got a proper alignment done, and the tires are now lasting much longer.

Does anyone know where i can get a quality alignment in ohio? Also, I should have them align it for the sport setting, correct?
