The R1R is comparable to the AD07 Neovas, Bridgestone RE-01R and probably going to be a step faster than the Hankook RS2, Dunlop Z1, Falken RT615 etc.

I finally got around to fitting some Toyo R1Rs on my Elise. I went with 205 45/16 up front and 235/40-17 in back. Only 200 miles on them so far, so it’s still too early for me to really fully evaluate them relative to stock. They certainly are plenty sticky, but I can already tell that I’m not going to like them as much as the original LSS Yokos. Tough for me to pinpoint exactly why. The R1Rs are a bit “squishier,” if that makes any sense. I’ll try to report more back after a few more miles on them. Of course, they are a little cheaper than stock LSS tires or the Toyo 888s.

IMHO you've shortchanged the Dunlop. What I've seen puts it at or even slightly above the performance of the RE-01R.

By squishier, do you mean less crisp turn-in? Any loss of feedback?

What tire pressure are you using (cold)?

Using 27f/31r for tire pressure, but trying to contact Toyo about recommended pressure for us.

After putting a few hundred more miles on them I am getting uses to them. Not as much loss of feedback as I originally feared.

I am just wondering if they'd make a better street tire than the R888's. As far as getting them up to temp for good grip.

The R1R's are a fine street tire, but from what most others have said here and elsewhere, the 888s will be fine too. And, at the track, obviously, the 888s would perform even better.

If I had to do it over again I probably would have just spent the extra money and gone for the 888s.
