Bridgestone RE01-R

Just heard there's a new option available for us soon.
Bridgestone will be releasing their RE01-R in a 205/45-16.
Combined with 3 options at the rear:
225/45-17
235/40-17
245/40-17

This is a terrific street tire, and a great alternative to the AD07.

Interesting; those sizes are not showing up on their website yet. What sizes would you recommend for LSS wheels front/rear?

I've got a call in now to verify sizing, but I'd probably go with the 245's in the back.

How well would the 205's fit in the front on LSS rims? Would there be a lot of "underhang" that I've heard about with the AD07's on sport rims?

What's underhang?

I'm optimistic that this is going to be the perfect set-up.
Unfortunately, I don't have the final dimensions yet to confirm it.
The guys at TR don't have dimensions yet from Bridgestone.

My info on the new size is coming from the Bridgestone motorsport guys...

I thought that many have said they were not happy with the fitment of AD07's on the LSS rims.

OK, did a bit of digging on the Bridgestone Japan website and I think this is going to be near perfect.

RE01-R - 205/45-16 is 23.2" tall and 8.1" wide.
A048 - 195/50-16 is 23.6" tall and 8.0" wide.

RE01-R - 235/40-17 is 24.4" tall and 9.5" wide.
RE01-R - 245/40-17 is 24.7" tall and 9.8" wide.
A048 - 225/45-17 is 24.9" tall and 8.9" wide.

Sounds like a great street option - anybody have experience with the RE01-R ?

What about grip?

How sticky would you say these tires are compared to AD07 or A048 or the other usual suspects?

Very similar to the AD07 in overall performance, perhaps just a touch stickier.
I would guess they're better than the A048 in the wet and cold.

Does anyone think they would be better in the wet and last longer?

I didn't see the sizes mentioned above (although I may be missing something).

agree that the pricing (at least for the rears) is quite a bit better than the AO48's ($139/168/162 vs $235). interesting that TR lists the bridgestones two categories higher in terms of performance over the yokos. doesn't make sense, but just thought i'd point it out.

Even assuming the performance is the same, having more tire up front is going to be nice.

People who have done extensive testing on street tires for SCCA's Street Touring classes agree this tire is one of the best. The STS national champion had both Neovas and Re01R's at Topeka for testing and chose to run the Bridgestones for the championships.

The 205 is not showing yet on the TR site. I have heard that this is the tire to have for street tire classes this year. It would be interesting to compare them to the Falken 615's.

Looks like the 205s are 12-16 weeks out.
