DBA 4000 rotors review thread

Other than one thread here having more to do with pads, I haven't seen anybody post a review (pictures, thoughts etc) on the DBA 4000 rotors.

Maybe they are just working as advertised, but we are very interested in getting some feedback.

So instead of contacting you individually, I thought this could be a better place to do it.

Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered and got some after they landed!

I recently put a set of the DBA 4000's on and haven't had a track day yet but I will give a full review shortly but I will say these are the best value out there right now and Lotusbrakes was a pleasure to do business with - The rotors are beautiful and very stout and I am a huge fan of slotting over cross drilled and I recently started to see some cracking of the OEM rotors at the cross drilled holes! I have seen cross drilled rotors come apart at a track day which resulted in a rollover! Not on a lotus but an M3.

I thought there was a guy on here who has been to like 30 track days and his rotors still look awesome. It was that review that sold me.

I just had my first track day on these....and I have to say I had no problems with the brakes at all other than a brake fluid issue....

oh and their lighter
oh, and they face the right way on BOTH sides of the car
oh, ....and they look nice too!

Thanks for the reviews. We are now offering them as pairs (before only sets of 4).

Hopefully we will get some reviews from people just running them on the front (or just rear).

Well, my first track day is on Sunday and with the VF Stage 2 I will be carrying more speed and harder braking so they will be put to the test, I will be running Porterfield R4 pads ! I will follow up after the event.

Perhaps a dumb question from someone looking to get into autocross and track events, how do these rotors (or the 5000 series) compare to the ultradisk rotors that sector111 offers?

I had been planning an ultradisk upgrade on the fronts next month, but with the price of this brand, it's hard to justify the extra cost of the ultras unless there's a significant performance benefit.

Sebring with Chin, it's a 2 day event though I am only there on Sunday! I thought I saw Shawn on the registration.

If you are just getting into performance events, your best bet is to focus on finding the right race pads for yourself, and getting a good replacement rotor.

The 4000 is hard to beat considering the quality and price. We target the two piece rotors for the seasoned racers who are looking for an advantage in weight/cooling.

Well, All I can say is these rotors went through Hell today and look brand new! I was running Porterfield R4 pads and with the new found power and speed of the Vision Function Stage 2, I was indeed carrying a lot more speed and found myself standing on the brakes harder than I ever had and I am glad I followed my instincts on these rotors over the other offerings! I am sold and I hope the next go around I can pick up the DBA 5000's. It was a scorcher today as well and the brakes never complained and never faded - My setup today was DBA 4000's - Porterfield R4 pads and ATE fluid! great combo!

Can you share the weight comparison of the series 4000 5000 and OEM.

OEM rotor is 13 pounds.

4000 weighs the same as OEM.

the 5000 give you ~ 1 pound advantage.

Have I ever seen you at local events?

I might have thought a bit more weight savings but 1lb is a 1lb. Are we talking about an aluminum hat floating rotor design for the 5000?

I run a with COMSCC, SCDA, PDA, and the BMW grp mostly. I do Loudon, LRP, Poconos, the Glen and a few others. I sometimes drive an E36 M3.

The 5000 does have an aluminum hat floating rotor design. They are not going for all out weight savings.

Have you ever seen our WRX at any of the track days?
