EBC Yellow Stuff Brake Pads

I know a few of you use this. How do you like it? Is it easy on the rotors? Do they fit right out of the box? Thanks.

didn't like them,
yes, easy on the rotors,
yes, they fit right out of the box.

Seemed to be not a high enough coefficient of friction pad which required too much pedal pressure and they didn't seem to handle the heat as advertised.

Only 1000 miles experience....but

I have found them to give better stopping power in auto-x than the stock pads. (confirmed by a better elise driver than me too)

But are they at least better than the stock pads in terms of stopping power? What exactly do you mean when you say they didn't seem to handle the heat as advertised? Did they fade during track use?

Grass Roots Motorsports is using them on their FRC Vette which they mainly autocross. They like them.

There is no "ideal" brake pad. Street pads (fiber based) work better at low temperatures and don't squeak, but can fade on track days. This usually isn't a problem with the Lotus, apparently due to the car being so light. But probably also because you can't get it going that fast down the straights. My Vette can hit 160 down a typical straight, and wears out front rotors in 4 track days. This speed is 40 mph faster than the Lotus and about 4 times harder on brake pads. Fortunately the rotors are only $30.

The party line is that the Pagid pads are good track pads for the Lotus.

Metallo-ferric race pads don't work well at low temperatures, even less so if you bed them in but scrub off the transferred material by driving around town. You have to bed them in again before a track day.

StopTech brakes has excellent articles on brake pad technology.

Stopping Power? You can get in to ABS with either if that's what you're asking.
They didn't fade per se but lost coefficient of friction that never came back after only a couple sessions.
You want to give them a try? I'll sell you my used set for $40 if you want ...... not much wear as I only used them for one track event before switching to Performance Friction 97's. PM me if you want.
