Got my Ohlins installed today!
Nice...........
I have them set to competition and IMHO the ride is softer then the standard suspension and the handling better. The car won't be on the track until October so I'll be able to report more on the handling side then. First impressions are: I likey a lot!!

Ohlins will be giving us a tour and demo during the Club111 meet at Deals Gap Oct 19-21. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions and see what all the fuss is about.

I talked to a guy from Ohlins at LOG25. Unfortunately I didn't pick up his name, but it sounded like he worked with Stan to build the SCCA Stock legal version of their shocks. Nice looking parts. One thing that I found interesting: He said that the Elise shocks are the ones that they normally use for motorbikes, which works because the car is so light.
Jer: Sector111 has details and pricing for all the different models: http://www.sector111.com/adsu.html

The Ohlins are really sweet. I've been driving my Elise with the Street Sport version. It offers really quick steering response with a compliant ride. It is really a perfect solution for those who live with rough roads.
I'm going to switch to the Track version as the roads in CA are nice enough that I want to try the higher spring rate and more aggressive damper valving. I'll take it to Willow Springs on Oct 3rd to test. Jack and I will likely swap cars to compare his Nitron shod car to mine with Ohlins. Nate at Ohlins will host a really great tour of their headquarters. If you are going to the Dragon event, you definately want to check out their facilities - especially their 'shaker' machine. It is clear why Lotus specs Ohlins on their LSS and 240Rs.... |

Yeah, I put the double adjustable Ohlins on mine & WOW!! I lowered the front 3/8ths. inch lower than the rear and run fairly aggressive rebound damping... The results are awsome so far! The car's balance is now neutral - not rear end happy. No longer will it do anything wrong... Even when you do!!!!
And it still needs to be alligned do to the lowering & have a little more time spent on the adjustments! I will let everyone know of my final results but It will be good, very good indeed. ![]()

I can't say enough about the way the Ohlins transform the handling, balance and the ride on the car. Second best mod to do on the car after more power in the trunk!
You guys would not believe the way the car feels with better suspension. Makes the car feel less nervous and more stable under all conditons. I have custom spring rates for the track guys looking to go as fast as possible and the regular street offerings as well. ![]() |

Thanks for being the test mule, Stan! I hope you got a break on yours, at least.

Sector111 has them in stock now and I must say that I am tempted...
http://www.sector111.com/adsu.html BTW I don't think that the handling on my Sport Pack Elise is nervous at all so I am not sure where Brett is getting that ![]()

Compare it to the Ohlins and you will see what I mean. The car feels 50% bigger with the Ohlins, less prone to thumping over bumps and the car can now handle pot holes without feeling as though it is falling apart. Turn in is much crisper and the car just feels more planted and secure and less likely to bite you if you make a mistake. Ohlins are a wonderful thing! |

Why would making the car feel 50% bigger be a good thing?

Sorry it took so long to respond - I've been enjoying the new ride
I have the same set up as lotuson74. The ride height has been lowered to the Ohlins setting. I believe the front is around 6mm lower and the rear 20mm. I'll confirm this with the mechanic. I had the car cornered balanced with my weight (175) lbs, and obviously aligned. Auto Europe charged me $3,400.00 out the door. The money is well spent!! Handling and feel is greatly improved on a car that already handles beautifully. I'll have her on the track October 7th and 8th for more aggressive driving however, based on some "street tests" I've done so far - I cannot believe how smooth the ride is in "competition" mode. The transformation is real and not a perceived improvement as some upgrades are. Definitely worth the money IMHO. Roads in Michigan are some of the worst out there and the ride in the Elise is better, I'm still shocked how this can be when runing a stiffer suspension. I'll take some photos with the new ride height. I'm running stock touring wheels and tires but have silver RAC's with 048's on order from Sector 111. Shinoo - dude the wait is killing me !!!!!!
