20 runs!? No wonder you were spitting mad. I'd better get at least 30, preferable 40 or so to get to mid-summer. sheesh. I did remove all shims, so I should have some camber help. And it's not really hot here until June, so the wear could be different due to temperature differences.

What temp should I be running A3S04s at? I just got my cheap-o set mounted today, and am ready with pyrometer in hand for Sunday. I know the hot/cold in center lower/raise pressure trick, but I'd also like to know what temp the tires grip best at.

OK, I'm answering my own questions again: Found this link at hoosier. 120-140F for the AS304s, and 180-200F for the R3S04s. Interestingly the initial settings quoted above from hoosier can probably be lowered. According to the PDF, if you have IRS, you can go lower. They list the minimum safe pressures as CAR WEIGHT / 100 (Ie about 21psi for us). Of course this is a minimum, not an ideal. It might be a way to get some heat in them early tho.

Run LOTS of pressure if you want to get any life at all out of the AS304s. I had to run 50fr/52rr on my MR2 last year & still went through about 4 sets (~20-30 runs @), cording outside AND inside on both ends of the car. I plan on running in the upper 40 range with the Elise until the 304s are gone & then switch back to the Kumhos. It seems like the 304s run better with more pressure anyway. I believe the Vette crowd was running 55-60 (heavier car though). The V710 has FAR more grip & feels more stable in my opinion.

Well I couldn't find any grip at all last sunday. Semi-damp track, cold, and windy, and I could never get more than 100F in the tire according to my pyrometer. That was after dropping down to 26-27 range. The highest tempes were still in the center of the tread. I was only seeing about 80-90F on the edges.
