How long can A048s last sitting in storage?

I should get my car any day now. I have 3 track events (2 days each) coming up (all within a 5 week period). I have to drive ~400 miles per each event. I'm thinking about swapping them for a set of Toyo T1Rs, and Put the A048s back on when I get a trailer (and a house in about a year and half from now). My friend told me that I shouldn't store them for more than a year. Any opinions? Thanks.

I think they should be fine. Best to store in BRW bags or at least trash bags to protect them. Better to store flat, not on the tread. Keep away from sun and sources of ozone (large motors).

Many tires you buy at retail are over a year old since they were molded.

You can tell when a tire was manufactured by checking the DOT number. Typically the last 4 numbers is the week + year. For example "1405" would be the 14th week of "05" or 2005. That would be the week of March 20-26, 2005. (pre-2000 the date code was 3 numbers long).

For more on DOT numbers (you can see where the tire was made) check out this article on the GGLC website - http://www.gglotus.org/ggtech/tire-DOTnotes/tirerat.htm
