Nitron upper mount question

I am trying to install a set of Nitrons. I started on the drivers side and that went like a charm except for the usuall placement of bolts on a lotus..

However, when I got to the passenger side I noticed the bracket that was included was the same for both side. However, it appears to be angled and the welded tabs are on the wrong side compared to the stock part. Does anyone know if this is normal?

I don't have the brackets with me (I'm at work), but the sides are different, one is angled more than the other. Hope that helps.

Mystery resolved. I had two sets of brackets and the ones I though were for the rear of the car were really the passenger side.

Enigma,

How did the install go? Once you solved the mystery of the brackets, did they go on easily? Do they seem sturdy and secure? Can an average garage mechanic do the job?

Have you tracked them yet? If so, are you pleased with the results?

Thanks.

Its not a difficult install at all. My problem was I had received extra parts and was trying to find a place for them when they had none. That created the confusion.

I am still making minor adjustments to the settings. They are very much an improvement over the stock suspension. My one complaint would be the lack of travel in the front suspension forces you to set the ride height lower than you might otherwise like. The driveways around here are a problem now.

I'm just an average garage mechanic and I didn't have any problems installing Nitrons. I've tracked them 3 times since the install. Love them!

Enigma,

Can you elaborate on the travel/ride height issue?

Thanks,

Did you ask Nitron if you could lengthen it by adjusting the bottom clevis?

What front ride height did you have to set it at? Lower than 130 mm?

Bumping an old thread.

Does anyone have pictures of the two upper brackets installed with the Nitrons? I need to know which side to put the brackets on.

It was pretty simple in my case. One bracket had mounting points for the ABS unit (driver's side), the other didn't (passenger's side).

Pics:

1) Driver's side
2) Passenger's side

Do I have to have the brackets for the front in order to install them or will the stock oem brackets be okay? What is the difference between the stock brackets and the ones supplied by nitrons?

I want to install mine now but I don't have the brackets yet

It's a good question. I asked the same question of Sector111 (where I purchased the shocks and springs), but they weren't sure, and recommended that I use the Nitron-supplied brackets. That's what I did.

Frankly, they look almost identical to the OEM brackets that came with my Track Pack. It may be that the Track Pack Bilsteins have similar mounting requirements to the Nitrons, but the base suspension does not.

I recently replaced my base suspension with the Nitrons and I remember wondering why I was swapping out the brackets, as they looked so similar. Though, I figured that they supplied them for a reason, so I slapped them on. For peace of mind, I'd just wait till the new brackets came.

I recall the new brackets being slightly wider than stock to accept the Nitrons, but it has been a while since I stared at them.

so has anyone installed Nitrons DA using OEM brackets on a base elise? Any ill effects in doing so? I don't want to wait for the brackets because I'm too impatient and want to install these ASAP

From memory, I agree. I think they are slightly wider.

The brackets are wider to accommodate the larger shock.
