I don't think I will go 17/18 once I finally buy...more than likely I will do a custom 16/17 forged wheel. Kodiak makes some really light custom forged wheels too. I will more than likely buy a set of RAC's or Toybox wheels as well for tracking, but cruising back and forth to the grocery store, work, etc. I really don't care about driving like I'm on a track. One of my friends dads is a VP for HRE. He said he could get me some for half the price Maybe I'll give those a go and be the first...who knows.

Just from looking at pics of stock wheels and how they are so recessed, I know you could easily push the wheel edge out an additional 38mm (1 1/2"). That would be an ET20 with a 9" wheel and it keeps the back clearance the same so you don't risk rubbing the suspension. Wow! I'm becoming kind of a mad scientist with all of this stuff, but it's addictive....ya know.
well I have 8" +32 (12mm out further than stock rim) wheels now with 245 tires and those tires are almost 11" wide. I've got a little bit of clearance on the inside, so someone can guess from the tire itself what wheel offset would work.

You have RAC monolites correct? (awesome wheels by the way) A 245 tire is going to fit a 9" wide wheel more flush than an 8" wheel. The 245 on an RAC gives it that "balloon" effect. A 9" with 245's will not be any different than what your running now as far as clearance goes as long as you lower the offset on a 9" correctly. Which I've computed to roughly be between ET18 to ET24.

I really don't know how it would look though, that's why I'm wanting to see Smash Factory's 8.5" and 9.5" set up to get an idea. The "balloon" tire look which most Elise/Exige owners do just might end up looking better anyways in the end, but I sure know that MPR's yellow Elise in the pic above with the Works has the best stance I've ever seen on an Elise. Granted were just talking pure looks here, not performance.

yes, and I tried to get a 9" or 8.5 rear wheel, but could not find what I wanted. Komotec now has a set of 16x7 and 17x9 available for sale. They look like volk RE30. Anyway, I even contacted RAC to make me a custom width wheel and they did not reply. I would have been fine with 8.5 rear wheel. No one makes them, so I just went with a set of RACs. Actually, 245 doesn't look that bad on the 8" but it's the widest tire I would go on the 8".
