Stripped Locking Lug Stud
I have a locking lug stud that I obtained from Lotus which has become stripped and I can't get off. Any suggestions? I've tried super glueing the removal adaptor to the front of the stud / bolt, but this doesn't loosen the stud. I might have to break down and take it to a repair shop, but was wondering if anyone has encountered a similar situation with a successful resolution?

Hey Dennis, I am a little confused. Do you mean the lugnut itself?
As in the locking nut, the one with the strange pattern and requires a special tool?

Yeah. I think I called it a lug bolt.
SO what part is stripped? The convoluted pattern that the tool sticks into? I highly recommend tossing all of the locking bolts and using normal bolts instead. Some people have had luck hammering a socket over the bolt or into the bolt locking pattern. A tire store may have some tools too.

You can grind two flat spots and use a cressant wretch. One of my nieghbors had the simple problem on his show truck. He solved it by welding a hex nut on and wretching it off. Anyway good luck to you!! Oh you can get regular ten spine lug bolts from Lotus Gargage. Randy's advice is A-OK!

I got rid of my locking lugs because I saw the failure potential - Mine had a spinning collar on it to prevent theft - Be careful not to damage your rim but the advice already given would be my solution as well! I can do amazing things with a grinder or a dremel!

Yes it is the pattern on the bolt (that the tool sticks into) that is stripped.
