Question Tire Insurance -- "Road Hazard Protection"

Since I have been getting nails in my Yoko A048s over and over, I searched "tire insurance" and found this.

https://www.roadhazardprotection.com/

Has anyone used something like this before? There isn't much information on the website, and doesn't sound that useful at all.

1. They will "repair" or replace the tire. -- well, I can get the tires repaired free at many tire shops...
2. $40/tire for five years. -- well, Yoko A048s don't last 5 years...

Here's an article about "tire insurance" as well.

Tire Insurance: Myths And Facts About Road Hazard Policies

Are there any good tire insurance policies?

Don't know about this one, but my Lotus dealer offered $600 for 5-years of tire insurance. I'm pretty skeptical wrt insurance, but got it anyways 'cause I live in an area with lots of construction going on and figure that its pretty likely that I'll hit a pot-hole some time before 5-years are up

Extended warrantees, insurance, forget it. They are the biggest scam around. Each time you can buy insurance for an appliance, car (except health and house) put that money in a bank account and don't touch it (except for repairs to the stuff you were going to insure). By the time you retire you'll have an extra $100,000.

Don't forget, that these tires only last 5-8k miles. A tire claim isn't going to save your tire for another 20,000 miles and thus be "worth it"

I'm not anti-insurance (that's what I do for a living), but I have to agree here. Figure you're looking at $0.005 to $0.01 per mile times four wheels and the odds don't favor you in the least.
