Looks incredible indeed! Lotus should offer a Alcantara package like this from the factory as an option.

I love it! I think that my stock interior looked pretty Toyota ish . I was thinking of doing exactly what you did(like the Euro cars) but in the end just tossed the interior in the trash and called it a track car. I did do the door panels in Alcantara as you can see.
The little climbers wedge and cable is how I open my doors. Total weight savings was 39.5 lbs after removing all glass and hardware from the doors.

The dash and sills are 1000% improvement over stock.

That's how the Elise should have been delivered from the factory!!!! Plastic my ass!

You're happy that your car looks like a piece of plastic crap so you can save 5 pounds? Give me a f-ing break. The cheap-ass interior of the Elise is the only thing I (and most owners) hate about it.

The really sad thing is that Lotus could have factory-installed a full alcantara dash, sills, and center console for probably $1-2k, cause they could mass produce, eliminating the cost of doing all this custom.

They have offered it as an option in Europe for many years. I am pretty sure you can special order FED cars with what ever you want now. I have seen someone in the US that ordered all of the above from the factory. It is WAY cheaper that way and does look just a tiny bit tighter than you get at most upholstery shops.
Anthony01's interior looks great though...

I agree. It is my understanding the trim shop will do just about anything you'd like, with varying prices as the customization level rises.

Hey Transi-Hoe, I like the alcantara seats and door panels but on the dash, it reminds me of a pimp-mobile with all "dat fuzz".

Where would you like it?

Your right, the change in weight is nothing but I'll do without the need to recover this stuff after the alcontara starts to contract from heat and sun.

How about this: simpler is better. But then again, who give a rats ass about what you think.

So whatever, they could have done leather... same difference.

Simpler would have been no dash at all. Who gives a rat's ass? We should hope Lotus gives a rat's ass what their consumers think of their products. I mean, it's good that you love everything about it, but you're not the voice of all Lotus-shoppers, ya know.

Thanks, and no, the airbag is still fully functional.

I will definitely take that as a compliment!

It controls the (in my case) dealer-installed driving lights package. You can buy the driving lights kit from any Lotus dealer I believe, and that triple-switch piece is included in the kit.

You planning to upgrade to a supercharged O8? If so, can I buy your car?

It looks amazing.

Thanks, but sorry to tell you I don't have any plans to sell her...she only has 2k miles so far and I would have to have the interior done again if I bought a new one

I'm totally sold on this... how hard is it to keep alcantra interiors clean since they're so porous? Can you just wipe them down, or is it a lot of work? For example, to keep the dash free of all that dirt that accumulates.

Should be pretty easy. I have an alcantara headliner, and it cleans very easily... I just wipe a dry microfiber cloth over it once or twice, and all the hair/dirt magically transfers to the cloth. No different than cleaning the old plastic parts.
