Wow- I am completely in the minority here it seems. Is there anyone else who isn't crazy about this look or I am just a blind fool?

Nothing wrong with being in the minority...and apparently you are. Some people have taste in their eyes, others...in their mouths. Nothing wrong with that. And there are even a few that may be jealous.

by William Shakespeare

Thou blind fool, Love, what dost thou to mine eyes,
That they behold, and see not what they see?
They know what beauty is, see where it lies,
Yet what the best is take the worst to be.
If eyes, corrupt by over-partial looks,
Be anchor'd in the bay where all men ride,
Why of eyes' falsehood hast thou forged hooks,
Whereto the judgment of my heart is tied?
Why should my heart think that a several plot,
Which my heart knows the wide world's common place?
Or mine eyes, seeing this, say this is not,
To put fair truth upon so foul a face?
In things right true my heart and eyes have err'd,
And to this false plague are they now transferr'd.

If you mean crazy about the look of alcantara, it's a matter of look and feel. Ferrari's, Lambo's, Noble's, Bugatti's, etc. all use it.

The design looks tastefully done. I've been a judge at car shows and would definitely rate the material choice and design as a big plus.

I think one of the guys that posted here is a designer and gave it a thumbs up. It looks as nice as anything Foose has done IMO.

It's just too subjective and you can't please everyone. I know some people who won't even post here for fear of being ripped by guys/girls who are mean spirited.

Some guys are turned off buy Angelina Jolie's tats, other's like her t--s

I think TRANSIO pretty much said it all. I agree with him.

Solar,
If you get the real alcantara, it comes in 2 weights. The lighter weight would be used for anything but the seats.

It's no heavier than the plastic crap or whatever it is
polyfibergroinhurtumsweat (70's Mercedes material type) that comes in most of the Lotus. Even if it was a lb. or two more, it's worth the feel and look IMO. Look for an (material) upgrade in the 08's.

Awesome looking interior! For those who only care about the functionality of their interior, I can attest that switching out that plastic dash and binnacle for alcantara will do wonders for eliminating glare on your windshield. I was amazed how much better I could see after getting rid of the plastic. Then again, I guess the real functionality freaks will probably have already gotten rid of their windshield for weight savings, along with passenger seat, A/C, stereo, carpet, and everything else that makes the car practical enough for the rest of us...

Anyway, awesome looking interior, reminds me a lot of this Exige 240: http://www.exige.de/pics/Lotus_Sport...rior_HIRES.jpg. Altho yours has the sills/console/binnacle/roof re-worked, and has more attention to the details.

Thanks for all the posts, guys. The compliments here have really been the icing on the cake for me, I'm even more glad that I went through with this than before I posted the pics, and I was pretty happy before.

Agreed jasond -- if you haven't deleted your windshield or dash pad , it's a great way to get rid of that nasty glare. Not to mention the #1 reason to recover the dash in Alcantara: it feels nice when you touch it.

Sorry, I actually wanted to know how much the dash and sill alcantara weighs because I have been thinking of doing the same thing myself down the road.

Pretty light, alcantara/suede is about 0.8 lbs per linear yard, count on 1-2 yards for just a dash, maybe 3-4 yards for dash plus sills (altho the entire material won't be used, since some will be trimmed away).

Looks great! Much like my 111S

Now another question for the Alcantara experts - how do you clean it (mine is light grey)??

My best advice is to give a call to a shop that you see putting out top quality work and handling custom work on exotics, and tell them what you want done. Definitely don't just stop by just any shop and ask for a quote. Make sure you've seen their work before and that it's the quality you're looking for. I've had enough cars done that I can definitely say that the old addage is correct: you get what you pay for. Also, another good way is to look for exotics at car shows/meets that have had custom interior work done and ask the owner who did it and what their experience was like.

Thanks. Awesome that you have a 111S, it's already hooked up. My preferred method of cleaning the Alcantara is vacuuming it, but another great way is what jasond posted on page 2 -- just wipe a microfiber cloth over it. That is definitely the fastest way and you can keep it pretty clean without having to get out the vacuum every time. If you mean how do you get out stains, I have no experience with that and hopefully will not have to learn lol...I really don't know for sure but to start with, I would go with something that does not have chemicals -- like just soap and water perhaps.

Thanks! There are some stains on the drivers door panel from the first owner - I'll try soap and water!
