Aerocatch question

I'm thinking of fitting an aerocatch to replace the standard engine lid lock. I see that there's different versions that can be installed either from on top or underneath.

I've see a couple of people have installed the 'on top' version but was thinking about trying the underneath version. Just wondered if anyone had a perspective on this one.
