Anyone replace stock seat belts?

I can't figure out how to make the airbag warning light go off. I've tried shorting the two wires going to the seat belt pretensioning device, but that doesn't work.

Looking at the schematic, it looks like there is a wire in a connector going to the dash light that could be pulled/cut (pin B12 -- 222, BP, 0.5). Anyone know where this connector is?

Or, how about the SRS control unit location? Pulling/cutting that wire on that end should work too (pin 8).

I don't want the hassle of pulling the dash and removing the light bulb. I'm tired of my black label over the bulb...

Some of you must have solved this by now. Please share the solution. Or even ideas that you haven't tried yet.

I got it! I put a 2.2 ohm resistor into the circuit and it works fine. That's about the same impedence as the seat belt tensioning device that the resistor replaces. Yeah -- finally.

Warning: this works, but if you have any airbag problem down the road Lotus USA will deny your warranty. It is BS, but they will hide behind the resistors and deny your claim.

Can anyone help. I'm in the process of reinstalling a set of OEM seat belts, but I can't seem to get them to unwind. They will retract (wind up the belt), but will not allow me to make them longer. They are currently too short to reinstall.

Can anyone tell me how to "release" them?

Thanks!

...firstly, make sure that the spools are mounted correctly level per the OEM installation position, to prevent their intertia locks from kicking in...secondly, due to child seat regulations, the passenger belt inertia lock kicks no matter what at about 50% extension and won't release until the belt is wound all the way back in - in which case you can unbolt the loose end and spool it all the way in to reset before pulling it out again for installation...

Awesome, thank you for the tips. I'd forgotten about the child seat feature (though both are not unwinding). I'll give it another shot tonight.

Thanks again!

So, I guess the solution is just to remove the airbags too

I have seen this happen when you let them get to short sometimes you have to take it apart to get it to unwind again...it gets to a point where it gets in too far and just gets stuck. I thought I remember someone saying that there is a "lock" that you can release with screwdriver...but dont remember...
