Chrome Orange questions

Hi guys, im currently looking into buying an Elise or possibly Exige and have a couple of questions.
Why does the CO look a different shade in every pic i have seen? i don't think i have seen two pics which are the same colour.
What colour is the base coat for CO?
Has anyone got close up pics of the CO pearl?
Thanks in advance
Lee

Is this close enough? You can even see the dirt!

Chrome Orange is THE ULTIMATE color for the Elise / Exige!

Chrome Orange (yes, the ultimate color ) is an orange basecoat with a pearl topcoat. This adds a dimensionality to the paint and results in the appearance of the car changing dramatically depending on lighting type, intensity, and angle. Mine can look yellow with bright light shining perpendicular to the surface viewed, but looks like a deep pumpkin orange when lit only by the single bulb of my garage door opener. In full sunlight, it glows.

+1 CO is great. Not only do other people see you (good for the semi-blind here in SW Florida) but it does change color in the sun. Sparkles, glows. Very cool color.

Am I the only non-dentist in FL with a CO car?

You've hit on the core attribute of CO - in the shade it looks completely flat and deep orange, in the sun it sparkles like you can't believe. Check this link for some really close up photos - particularly the back shot which shows the range of color from left to right.

Some more CO shots... It is pretty amazing how light affects this color. It is completely flat looking in low light, overcast, evening lighting. Bus as has been stated, in full light it is amazing.

KG is similar in that it can change color and look yellow as well.

I've been thinking about this. It's actually a very difficult color to describe, specially in the sun and how it changes it's hue.

Yup, you definitely have to see it in person to appreciate it.

I didn't see it in person before I bought my car. I picked it up on an overcast day in NY, so it was like, OK, cool, orange car. I was more overwhelmed by the experience of the car (I also bought the car without having ever driven or sat in one). We drove it to Philly. The next day was also overcast when we started out, and we finished after dark.

On the third day, we saw the car in the sun for the first time.

Same here - raining the day I picked mine up, next day saw the sparkle on the mirror plinth and smiled.

Ditto, ordered sight unseen and undriven, waited on the list. Picked up in a snow storm ala midwest. Didn't see in the sun for a few days and then wow.

It's orange, trust me.

That's my car in my garage under my light-up-the-night-sky/signal-UFOs fluorescent lights and a photo taken with flash at close range. Flash washes out colors.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Chrome Orange seems to be on the edge of what color can be imaged by digital cameras. None of the pictures that you see on EliseTalk quite capture the actual intensity of Chrome Orange. You really do have to see it in person, in the bright sun light, to really understand the effect.

Chrome Orange.

Very true. It tends to give certain cameras fits. It's really dependent on the sensor's color mapping and accuracy. Most cameras can't record it properly.

You have to see it in person to truly appricate it. I when to the dealer thinking Red, saw a CO in the lot and I was sold.

Still haven't seen a KG in person yet, but I bet it must have same effect.
