cost to convert electric to manual windows?

I'd like the extra sound damping material of the touring pack, but definitely want manual windows, so thinking of getting the touring pack and converting.

Anyone know the cost? Any info or details appreciated!

I've seen threads on converting windows to manual/electric, but nothing that has addressed the cost... sorry if this has been covered!

you just need the crank and the new window mech, call up lotusgarage.com and get the pricing, i would guess under $300 per side.

I'm sure you could find someone to trade and you could do it for free.

Why would you want electric windows? You'll be paying to fix them every couple of years.

I applaud the OP for wanting to do the conversion!

i had to have mine fixed 3 times so far.

plus with the sport cranks, the manual windows are lighter, its also more convienient for people parking that forget to wind the windows up or down first.

The Enzo has rollup windows. I had to have the rollups on my Exige fixed. They were getting stuck on the way up. I think they are cool.

Who cares about manual (crank) windows. How many have manual (crank) engines (no starter) - Think of the weight savings! No power for anything else, but that's the price of light weight baby!

i have a tight two car garage, so i roll the windows down to make it easier to get in and out of, you have to reach in and put the key on and switch it on, its a lot easier to crack the door reach in and wind the windows. its only a couple of turns

its considerably more convienient, especially since i spend so much time working on my car with the ecu removed, and don't want to start it up.

we have a lot of dust in the our area so keeping the windows up helps that too.

last time i checked, i manually started the engine by turning a key and pressing a button

which is why i said "have to reach in and put the key on and switch it on" not start it, then secondly since i often have the U bend out for the intercooler to get to the ecu, i don't want to start it for that either.

The electrics may be lighter, but does anyone know by how much?

You ever go to a classic car show, and someone replaced the analog clock in their E-type with a digital one? The electric windows in an elise look like that to me!

Plus the benefits of rolling down the windows in the garage or whatever when the car's not on.

So anyone know the cost of doing this?

I have the manual windows and like them just fine. The windows are so short and the cranks so easy to reach, it's not a big deal. Also, just think of "Lotus" and "electric" in the same sentence....

the difference is apparently in the few grams range, if you swap the heavy cranks for the lightwieght ones lotus sells, the manuals are lighter.

but its in the skip lunch range.

i prefer the look of the manuals too, the electrics look a bit afterthought

i swap from manual to electric, and never looked back. manual maybe "cool" in a "race" "retro" fashion, but no where near as convenient as the electric.
