Couple dollar carpet button mod

i was at home depot buying some cabinet knobs and I was thinking that the knobs looked pretty close to the diameter of the stock carpet buttons. I went home and sure enough they were exactly the same. I bought a couple knobs and grinded off the bases and domed tops. Took no time at all and for a couple bucks they look a lot better than stock. I also grinded off some of the stock buttons top surface and just glued the metal pieces on. excuse the dirty interior, im waiting on a buch of cf stuff to arrive monday

Nice. I'm not sure I see a dirty interior at least compared to mine .

That's the brilliance of this mod - You can pick out so many different finishes, Just take a button in the store and match the diameter, You can even have pretty Hello Kitty carpet buttons

Arrow Huh?

Im not sure about this mod, because your still using the original buttons.

Your just gluing a button on top of the original button, right?

Oh never mind - I just re-read it - it's just like a veneer... I thought it was an entire button replacement...

yep it was my cheapo version instead of buying the $40 sector111 replacements. They dont look as good, but look way better than stock. I figured for a couple dollars I'd mess around with them

I guess I'm confused... What is wrong with the simple plain plastic buttons that come with the car. They hold the carpet (floor mats) in place and are easy to take off and remove. And they don't rust or tarnish. What's not to love about them?

Although this is a clever mod for those that just have to "fix" something.

To me it's kind of like the center console. It's functional, doesn't show scratches, but is kind of ugly.

Precisely my thoughts.

I want a leather console. I have no reason other than I think its purty.

Maybe it's just me. I find the console (and carpet buttons) functional and feel it fits into the general feeling of the car.

But then again, I'm one of the few that bought the car without the Touring Package as I didn't want the extra carpet, soft top lining, etc. Plain and simple does it for me. Then again, I did opt for Chrome Orange and that's not very plain...
