Wheel chocks? It is unusual for me to use jackstands.

If your car was Autumn Gold, you could stick a 1/2" bolt on each side and call it Frankenclam

Seriously, it's shaping up very well. Keep at it.

Sweet. That's gonna be one strong clam

Someone should make a clam out of the same material that Saturn uses in their dent-resistant panels.

Now that you're this far in you might as well fil in that seam. It really makes a huge difference in the look of the front-end. I'm looking forward to seeing it with the license plate plinth removed, but I like the molded-in winglets.

Awesome work, Randy!

What is the name of the foam product you're using?

I liked the winglets too....but I think they look actually more odd once you remove the plinth. So off they came. One more positive of this, the stuff that sticks out and makes driveways more of a problem, are now all gone. No forward sticking out corners. Everything sweeps back now.

We are also using some molded in nuts for the bottom of the UberClam so we can easily install both various splitters, but also some sacrificial rub strips that will be attached with recessed screws.

As far as the seam... it is tempting, but it really increases the amount of work and I feel guilty now about the amount of time and money that is being spent on this. The seam means I would have to remove the rest of the Starshield and that I will also respray the entire clam as far as paint. Maybe some other time. The one positive about delaying this, is that it can be done on the car later. Maybe when I do removal of the rear fins and mesh replacements.

We are really under the gun to get this car back together by Friday. I have a race this weekend.

It is called FOAM B 2 pound density, pourable foam. I would guess Tom would know more. Some detail also about high toxicity.

Here is the clam now... getting closer to the final shape.

Thanks. Trying to still take care of business at the same time is not easy.

We hope to have glass sheets on this today. That leaves Thursday and Friday to finish it up and get the clam back on the car. Painting and new film will have to happen later. The good news is that we have color mixer for the new glass/resin that is close to Saffron Yellow, so I hope it does not end up looking to ghetto until it is painted.

This thread proves that no clam is a total loss! When sanding the foam, are you wearing a mask and gloves (since you mentioned toxicity)?

The person (Bill) sanding the clam is taking precautions. I wave at him from inside through a double paned window... so I am not too worried about myself.

Bill is also reading this thread and complaining I am getting all the credit.
