Ebay Carbon Exige Scoops

What do you guys think. Saw these on another users car and he seems to like em.

eBay Motors: Lotus Exige 06-07 Carbon Fiber Side Scoops,Side Vents (item 270325613307 end time Jan-13-09 14:01:06 PST)

Do you think that buying cheaper ones will get me in the end with fading?
Thanks.

I would think not as the cheaper ones are fiberglass with one or two layers of CF on top. If interested, I have a new pair that I never installed for sale. I ended up purchasing used stock exige scoops thru this site and had them painted Starlight Black to match my car. I didn't want to paint over the new CF ones as the thought of painting over CF was painful. Email me at nobuyasu@yahoo.com if interested.

The member who has these that I saw didn't need to drill, he made brackets that held them just fine

And the brackets, which are attached to the scoops, attach to the body...how?

I made some brackets to do the same. I haven't driven around with them on because I only made brackets for driver's side and haven't found time to fab up the other side. However, the driver side bracket fits the scoop in perfectly and tight.

Here's some pictures of the bracket I made, but it may be hard to understand how the bracket would hold up the scoop if you are not familar with how the OE scoops mount and the inner body works of the vent area.

I have a set of the ebay ones.. I had to remove the mesh from my stock ones.. PITA and then silicone them on to the new carbon fiber ones. Other than that no issues and they look quite sexy on my AW Exige. They have been on the car now for a good 6 months or more and still look brand new. This is on a daily driver that is parked outside in the rain and sun too btw. I have no Garage ....

Sounds good. As for how the other ones mount ill have to find out and get back to you. It was only a quick convo in a parking lot.

You'll get better cooling if you leave the mesh off.

Not to worry about the subtle difference in cooling with and without the mess but thanks.

I have not seen the oe mounts but im guessing just looking at yours, the top and bottom clip under the body pannels and the rear peice extending mounts to something?

I've purchased a lot of parts from Che (Delubozparts) on Ebay for my MR2 Spyder. He's a good seller and stands behind his products.

I'm amazed at how expensive these are. I'm actually going to start making these in CF at a reduced price if you can wait just a bit longer.

I have the ebay type scoops in my Exige. I wrote up a "How to" on making your own mesh. Hope this helps.
Cheers,

I also have the ebay side scoops, and I ordered the mesh from Lotus. It was $28 for each side, and I used black silicone to put it in. Pretty easy, and looks great.

Yes you are correct. The rear peice bolts to an existing bolt that holds the rear clam to the bottom part of the body.
