Feeler Post..interest in Carbon fiber/kevlar dashboard

Just wanted to make a post regarding anyone who'd be interested in a Carbon fiber or Carbon kevlar lightweight dashboard for our cars(Elise and Exige) They could be made with or without speaker/radio/vent holes, and would cost $550-$600 each if enough people are interested. Keep in mind if Reverie ever produced such a part it would probably cost thousands, since they use dry carbon.(I have a reverie XC seat so Im not knocking them at all, you get what you pay for)

I'd need at least 12 people to express serious interest to even make this worthwhile for everyone. I'd be working with a well-known company that specializes in composites and molds, Pennon Composites. I'm in, so I need 11 more..

There are some people that make this...the one issue is that it should prob. be matt finish vs. wet due to glare of the sun. Unfortunately, all my CF interior parts are wet or glossy...so I'm still trying to find a solution for this - otherwise I'd be interested.

I'd be in if it was substantially lighter than the stock piece (6 lbs).

it would be lighter

The dash would probably weigh in at 2.5 or 3 lbs,but this mod would clearly be more of a "bling" item than weight savings since we're talking about a dash thats lighter than any factory car dash out there as it is. As for the glossy finish I have the same in my interior as well, which is why it is something that if it was gel-coated instead of clearcoat would create less glare from the sun.

I would buy an affordable cf engine underbody panel, like the Reverie piece, that is similar in weigh.

This would be easy to make and you could improve on the original design by widening the panel around the suspension arms. A wider panel would help the diffuser's outer tunnels create more downforce. Check out the Reverie website.

I believe knucklehead produces various CF parts such as the dash, entry sills, surround, etc...
