GROUP BUY. Starshield Rockers $169.99 FREE shipping

Now shipping replacement Star Shield!
Hey guys, I'm finally shipping replacement Star Shield!

First order going out tomorrow morning for an S1 Lotus front end and Federal Elise side protection!

Let me tell a few things about the product.
1) it is NOT the actual StarShield brand product. SS is made from a 3M film and marketed through Lotus dealer network. It is a name brand for Paint Protection Film (PPF)
2) This product is NOT made by 3M. Why you ask? Quite simply because I feel it's a better product and higher quality, stronger, etc than 3M. I have tested several materials and this is the one I have settled on, including for my own car. If you stretch the 3M film it is very strong and stretches at least 150-200% before snapping. The product I'm supplying goes nearly twice as far and is very hard to break. It also will install easier and conform to curves better than the 3M product.
3) This one bothers me because I don't feel others have been up front about it. The product has a 5 year warranty against yellowing, cracking, etc etc. This is only honored if installed by a certified installer. Since you guys will be mail ordering this, saving a ton of money, and most likely installing yourselves, you can probably throw this out the window, just like if you got it from anyone else. I still feel it is the highest quality product on the market though.
4) Price. I can get you any any kit, for any car sold in the US or Europe, or any part of that kit. I believe on this board the most common thing is going to be side sills, as they take the most wear. The side sills retail for $269.99. I'm going to give them to you for a whole lot less. Or any other kit for that matter. A newb non-contributory member here was offering a side sill kit on group buy for $220 plus shipping if he got X number of orders. I do not know if the kits were of equal quality.

ROCKER PANEL GROUP BUY

I am going to run this to Feb. 15. If I can get a minimum of 10 orders by then, I will give you the kits wholesale price for $169.99 SHIPPED FREE That is $100 below retail
As long as a min of 10 kits are reached by the cut off of Feb 15 the GB price will remain intact for as many orders as I get. This is very low profit for me but want to give you the best deal possible by way of introduction.

Who wants em?

Uhm, it's clear.
It covers the rocker panel from the line at the front clam to the line at the top of the rear wheel arch where it meets the rear clam.

Found the thread!

I would be interested in the protection of the front of the car, including the lights and the mirrors. Do you have prices? Do you have any "certified installers" in the Maryland / Washington DC area?

and

Do you have any pictures of what it looks like installed?

How could the installation effect it yellowing or cracking?

Dave

I would be interested in black - to cover the chips that already inhabit my rocker panels....and match the black "LOTUS" letters you made for me

edaddy- I've started using black vinyl tape to cover up the beat up clear film and to protect that area. If that is something SweetDaddyD can do without much of a bump in price I might be interested as well. But you first... and post some pics. Come spring I plan to get the old ones replaced.

edaddy: I'll research black. I was testing some products. I will need to check into roll pricing, but can't until Monday.

Dave: It's clear. You can't really see it unless you are on top of it and look for it. We did a light blue Jag and black Mercedes today and you could not see it unless you were less than 3 feet away on either car. If you look at your starshield (if you have it) it will be amazingly similar, perhaps a hair more clear but that is just my opinion. The installation should really not affect the wear at all. You use soapy water, a heat gun, and a squeegee for installation. It's not rocket science. That being said the Elise is not the world's easiest intstall, but it's doable.

Retail pricing of the hood and mirror kit is $249.99, and the bumper is $289.99, and lights $69.99 for clear or $83.99 for blue, yellow, or smoke. Your price until Feb. 15 on all of it will be $379.97 with free shipping. After Feb. 15, it will be about $150 increase plus shipping and paypal fees.

So I guess this is one of the reasons that you posted thread "hating" on new vendors

I am just kidding.

I purchased a small 3m kit on ebay a few months ago. It was missing a few pieces. I will get home and see what I need and will definitly order from you. I am also thinking about ordering the stripes

OK, I gotta think. I am in the whole job change process right now and want to make sure I am doing the right thing (with work) before I make any buying for the lotus.

Thanks for all the info!

I'm happy to go first. I'm hoping they will look like the protector sheets sold by some of the other dealers, including BWR. They are only $60 at BWR.... so there must be significant difference in materials. In addition to pictures, I'm happy to get together to show them off, assuming everything works out.

Edaddy: These cover the entire rocker from the seam at the front clam, to the seam at the rear clam. It is not the same product as BWR offers. Their product is black and covers the highest wearing 10-20% of the rocker but not the whole thing. They have a nice product and I do like the look of it on certain colors. I will be offering something similar in the future but am still working on it. What I am offering in the introductory price group buy is a replacement for your worn Star Shield.

Any chance you'll have replacements for the rear quarter panels (behind the rear wheels)? They've yellowed the most on my car...

Here is a basic pic of the rocker kit.

On a scale of 1 to 5 on installation difficulty, it is rated as a 3- intermediate.

Here are basic installation instructions:

The painted surface of the car is thoroughly cleaned to ensure a good adhesive bond by the PPF.

The vehicle is kept under cover or and out of direct sunlight during the application.

The areas that will be protected are waxed with a polymer sealant. I prefer Zaino, but Meguires NXT or many other products work good too.

The film's paper backing is removed to expose the adhesive.

The film is then sprayed with a special solvent composed of 25% alcohol and 75% water. I like to add a couple drops of baby shampoo, basic dish soap, or zaino car wash to this.

The film is then moistened, positioned in place, and squeegeed to the surface of the vehicle. During the group buy the first 10 kits will get a free Squeegee. After that, they are only $1. Gentle use of a heat gun helps work the film around deeper contours.

Excess moisture takes a at least 3 days in the sun to dry and cure properly.

It may take up to 45 days for the film to completely cure.

The film is 8 mils thick and has built in sun protection.

Yes, I do. I can supply any part of the kit, including full upper hood protection and access panel coverage. And I can supply kits for any of your other cars, even many not sold here. I'm sending a kit out for a 1997 Elise S1 right now that the customer could not even get from Lotus.

The rear wheel impact area retails for $139.99. How does $90 with free shipping and free Squeegee sound? Paypal in signature or PM for mailing address.

How difficult is it to remove the old beat up StarShield and adhesive and can it be done without messing up the paint?
