I dunno if I'd like it either,
tho there are times I wish my doors didn't swing so far out.. it's tricky in tight spots.

To each his own, but next time you have your door open take a second and look at the door hinges...some of the best art on the car, IMO.

I don't think it would look bad since the Elise is an exotic. They are so rare, that people would probably assume it came like that stock.

I agree, it would be a shame to get rid of those aluminum hinges .

IMO lambo doors are the second highest form of "faking the funk"......this would be the worst:

I always think it looks odd to watch someone swing it out. In my opinion, the body lines on the car suggest that the door should swing upwards. Look at the picture below and try to forget everything you know about our cars. Check out the sloping curve of the door and maybe you'll see my point.

The first time I showed my designer friends the Exige, they all said "Shouldn't the doors swing up?" I always assumed it was because of the Lambo legacy or whatever, but maybe it's because vertical doors make the most aesthetic sense? Who knows.

It is possible "Lambo" doors would look amazing... however I am on Serebo1's side that the door hinges are a true work of automotive art.

The biggest downside to them though is that they cannot be opened on an upturned car thereby locking the occupants in (not that I ever want to see an upturned Elise either!!) and this is one reason you do not see Lambos racing.

People can do what they want to there cars but i think lambo doors belong on lambos, + the hinges to make that happen are really heavy and i don't know how you would bolt the hinges to the frame, i'm betting that it took alot of work to make that happen.

I do agree that looking at the car you'd certainly expect them to go up but there is also a safety issue with the lambo doors. If the car ever lands on the roof you are completely trapped (there have been some gruesome Lambo stories related to this).

I wish I had 2 pairs of hands so I could give this idea 4 thumbs down.

Want a Lambo with Lambo doors? Buy a Murcie or Diablo, but for the love of all that is good, please don't do this to a Lotus.

I'm sorry to say that the 'pimp my ride' crowd will only have increased Elise ownership as the cars depreciate. Oh, the humanity....

Maybe not since it doesn't boast big hp numbers or whiz-bang straight line performance like an SRT-4 or Evo.

Also, for the guy who asked: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/images/smilies/puke.gif

LOL! Thanks but I can't take full credit I just re-used some brilliance from one of the "Rick James" skits that Dave Chappelle did!
