Help removing the leather around the shifter

Sorry if I overlooked this but I dont seem to be able to find where it talks about this piece. The rest of the center console isnt too bad but it appear this piece is attached to the shifter.

There is a plastic zip-tie that holds the top of the leather boot to the shifter. You can snip it from underneath. Be careful not to clip the leather.

It is easiest to pull the console over the top of the shifter, which will turn the leather boot inside-out. Then, it will be easy to snip the plastic zip-tie.

You can pull the inside(the part attached to the shifter itself) of it out, as it's folded under a ziptie as Thomas noted.
