Interior and Comfort

Hey guys, I've only sat in an Elise once, and it wasn't like something I'd remember, I was focusing on that world's-best speed and handling
I mean, I know I could just check out a review or two, but I was just wondering what your opinions are on Ingress/Egress, Comfort overall, and if the Touring Pack could be recreated through interior mods and such. I just figure if I'm ever going to be driving a Lotus Elise/Exige, Interior Comfort is a big factor.

Thanks,
Sunny

If comfort is a real concern, get something else. No amount of "fix up" changes the fact that the car is loud, rides rough and is just plain raw.

Haha the sound and riding wasn't a problem, I just meant the seats, sound system, stuff like that. I know it's not meant for that, but a little luxury couldn't hurt...Right?

Also, I can't find any Crash Data, anyone who's been in an accident know about the safety? Like, I was thinking If I got one, it might be a sub-daily driver of sorts.

You can upgrade the radio, but remember that the engine/exhaust noise is loud.

The only seat upgrades I know of are for racing...a step backwards for you. The passenger seat doesn't adjust at all and the driver's just moves forward and back.

Seriously, drive one and then drive an S2000.

Ah, well the Lotus Sport Elise comes with Leather Seats from what I hear, and it actually looks sorta comfortable, relatively...

Haha, so what I'm getting so far is the Elise isn't comfortable at all =D I didn't mean like "Audi A8L All Leather Plush" Comfy, I meant, "Leather, but not a backache" like it doesn't hurt or is That Bad right?

Without some intensive modifications the A/C is rather ineffective, if that is important to you.

I'm more of a window person anyway, but I see your Sig so I guess it's possible. I'm just thinking of (on the miraculous day I buy an Elise) I be able to use it as a DD, and in the event of part failure, replace them through a dealer (If its possible to replace engine parts and stuff through a dealer).

I chose an Elise because it is so comfortable and practical. It has doors, a top, A/C and heat, an actual sound system, airbags for safety (which I will remove), a horn, power windows on both sides. And a boot big enough to live out of for weeks, compared to my backpack. Oh yeah, really good frontal and side protection for a car of this height.
My other option was a Seven.

Well I noticed the Tundra and X3 in your Sig, so I guess in comparison, it's just as much a Seven

Everyone has a different perception of comfort, personally, I find the Elise very comfortable, but it's a Lotus. You really need to take a "long" test drive.

I'm 6 feet 2inches and I find my Elise to be fairly comfy. The first time I drove one was when I recently purchased one from Lotus of Jacksonville. I fell in love with it and drove it 130 miles back to my house. I think the seats a real comfortable. Actually more comfortable than my 05 MINI Cooper S. But that's just me. An adjustable steering wheel would be nice but I will sacrofice that for it's awesome feel behind the wheel. Yes it has a lot of road noise and the doors rattle on real bumpy roads but I don't drive on those too often. I have big feet, so the close gas and brake pedal were hard to get used too but I good with it now. A good pair of Piloti driving shoes wouldn't be a bad idea. I don't think I would want mine for a daily driver but I wouldn't hesitate to take it on a long roadtrip. Maybe a cannonball run would be fun?

Just for comparison, my wife has a Cayman S. It feels like a Cadillac compared to my Exige. I prefer the Exige of course. The Cayman is very comfortable, and sporty, the Exige is raw and loud, just the way I like it. BTW, my wife doesn't like to ride in my car.
Cheers,
Skottoman

Feel free to turn this into a 'What car should I get for my first car in a year or two' thread :P
