Can Simple Green be safely used on aluminum suspension parts if it is thoroughly hosed off within a few minutes? Sure hope so, as I used it to do just that a couple of weeks ago. I'll head out to the garage soon, pull a wheel and see for myself.

I also used Simple Green to remove rubber smears on the paint and Star Shield from a track day. That, too, was promptly hosed off and seems to have caused no issues. Soap and water wouldn't budge the rubber smears. What do you folks think of using Simple Green on the paint and Star Shield? No doubt it strips the wax, but that is easily cured.

Armor all, clear guard, and a few other things are known for causing a film on the inside of the windows.

Also our car are know for “out gassing” from the interior parts, but I would think your car is old enough not to out gas any more.

After using armor all, the next time you are in the sunlight you will get the film. Try something else, and don’t use whatever it too much/often.

First, use a shop-vac with a bristle tip adapter if its really really dusty.
For basic cleaning, I do a quick once over with a "california car duster" type tool to get most of the dust bits pulled up and that is usually enough.
If there are spots, take a lightly damp cloth or damp sponge with water. It works fine if you aren't leaving your car baking in the sun all of the time and need a UV protectant. Wipe away excess moisture. I believe most people would get a clean looking car if they would just use as much clean water as they would these products.

I used to use 303 on my old 81' Mercedes when I lived in Texas 8 years ago and that dash held up until last year, in Ohio, when it sat outside for a whole summer and developed 2 small cracks. The product looked great because the car just looked clean. I don't remember really doing anything to the dash while I owned the car since I lived in Texas aside of a gentle wipe down. Although I did have it detailed once or twice and I don't know the product that they put on the car.

These products are over used in my opinion. Definitely use any product sparingly. I always seem to associate the overly glossy dash look with cheap vanilla smelling interiors and IROC written on the side.

303 Products Aerospace Protectant.

303 does not contain silicone oils, waxes, glycerin or petroleum distillates, and it has a UV protection ingredient as well. It is great for tires and interior plastics, is water repellant, and lasts a long time.

303 Products - Aerospace Protectant, High Tech Fabric Guard -* World's Leading Automotive Care Products

In addition, 303 has a very, very low gloss. IMO, high gloss protectants on tires or interior parts looks both cheap and greasy.

how do u use the protectant? do you have to clean the area first then apply it, or is the protectant also a cleaner???

I put on interior pieces sparingly using a clean foam wax pad. On tires, I use an old cotton wax applicator pad. You just wipe it on like Armorall or any other protectant, but you don't need much.

Take a look at our Leather and Dash Conditioner. SPF 65 UV protection, zero petroleum (so it won't dry and crack your dash like Armor All) and water based so it actually dries instead of feeling greasy.

Car Wax, Car Polish, Auto Detail Supplies - Leather Conditioner - 16oz
