A few weeks ago picked one up from the dealer. The order is filled by the Lotus trim shop. You get a brand new console and cover for the hand brake plus a wrapped "cup" holder. The old price was $260, but heard they have since bump it to a little under $400.

I should be more specific. My local Lotus dealer wanted $360. The 323.16(+$15 shipping) was from a Massachusetts Lotus dealer. Call kirk (781)547-5959

Wow. Porsche would charge you $2,000 for that. Looks like nice work.

It's sweet, and reasonably priced, but I'd be afraid that the leather would take a beating in short order.

Well, hopefully my dealer (Auto Europe) is correct. Just ordered my console a two weeks ago. I'm told I'll see it in four to five weeks. I'm thinking (with Ducati ordering process in mind) two months. Price quoted right after he called them was $270.00. And this was in Feb. So we'll see if this changes when it arrives. Looking forward to it!

Hey did the first post say the "Cup holder" was wrapped too? Meaning the aux port trim piece? I wondered about that since the tolerances seems to be really tight with plastic against plastic. No room for leather thickness on the the old part with modification or the leather stops short. I highly doubt the latter is done.

Actually I think it will fair better than a painted console. I can just see kicking the the thing with my feet and scuffing to a point that it needed a respray.

A lot of owners are doing this and at a local charge of $760.00 or so, I don't think so. I was going for CF but the early ones had a seam but for $500.00 is was cheaper than paint. But the leather to get rid of the cheap "Beta part" look is a pretty good deal.

Besides I think wear shouldn't be too bad. I mean they most like use the same leather used to trim the seats and door panels and they are holding up great. I've seen a lot of people, stand, scuff, rub the seats and still no appreciable damage. The console will see a lot less action than that. My OEM console only shows small marks on the area around the go pedal. Other than that, nothing. So I see no reason why a leather console shouldn't hold up.

I had the center console painted & it is very resitant to any kind of scuffs. It has a clear coat on it & is very smooth (Original texture was sanded). I would have to bang it pretty good to need a re-spray.

Cost was minimal also - $250 - Included the center console, small rear piece that houses the lighter, and air condition surround.

That is a good price! That sounds more in line with it should cost even with the cost of materials. Your are correct in that paint can be very durable. Also depends on the quality of the job. Which anyone that knows how to paint cab tell you that often the quality shows up after a period of time. Good luck on your painted parts! The price was awesome. Also around my area EVERYONE is going for the painted look...I also wanted to be different.....for now anyway.

I painted it myself. Cost was about $50 for supplies. It came out great.

The leather looks great. I had a friend paint my center console (and other parts) It cost me nothing as I traded out some service in my business. Good deal. It has held up fine so far, but I'm careful not to kick it getting in and out. I have heard of someone on here who had a piece of paint protection film in the parts most likely to get scuffed. My black plastic sills are showing a few scuffs though.

Taking off my hard top one day, I knocked the micro mirror off & it landed on the painted center console. That is about as hard a blow as it will ever take & it didn't even leave a mark.

Sounds like you are ready for some Carbon Fiber door sills.

Ordered the leather from Fox Valley Motors last week, and left the Elise there this weekend for the recall. I figured the console was coming out anyway. They also had a carbon fiber console in stock that we passed on. On another note, in there were about 8 old shifters in the dumpster, gearshiftknobs and all.
