I am interested too! It looks like about 10 of us or so are interested, so it might be worth getting started up!
With the rear deck lid, i agree with Phil S no double side tape. I know there are some factory holes under and I have seen small lock ties used for that, and it looked fine. Just let me know when yur ready to start and POST SOME PICS! ![]() |

I have some parts on order. I am going to start with the engine lid. I plan to make 2 or 3 different versions. 1 will go under the lid, and the other 2 will be on top of the lid. The cheapest one will be held on with tape but the other 2 versions will use no tape and use factory holes for mounting. I will be getting started within the next week. Should have a prototype for engine lid within a week or two.

I guess I will get everything set up to be able to produce these. There is no tape and the fit is snug. If I get some sales I will get a little dough for get a welder and make some outside of the engine lid sets. I worked about 6 hours tonight with multiple design concepts (and a lot of wasted material $$$) for outside the engine lid but none of them came out looking good enough. I will have to wait for a welder to do em nice and pretty. Under The lid sets will be $150 per set plus $10 for shipping (continental US). As I said I will post pics tomorrow when they are all complete.

Oh and for the inevitable question. The weight of the stock vents is 2 lbs 5 ounces. The mesh set weighs 10 ounces. saving 1 lb 11 ounces from stock.

Do you have to attach the mesh with visible hardware (and drilling holes) or can you use an adhesive or double sided tape?
Looks great!

The holes the hardware goes through are pre-existing. They hide under your current vents. If you want to attach it with tape instead then that will work too. It can go either way. One thought though. With tape you will need to get plugs for the 20 holes already there.

Oh... I didn't know there already were holes there. Nevermind
![]() Probably a more subtle black head screw would look better/hidden... just not a fan of the silver.

The screws are black they are gloss so they shine with the flash. They are just spray painted so maybe a little black nail polish after instalation to clean up tool marks is in order. How about this. I will include black touch up paint into the kit.

I installed side ducts on my elise and the front end just doesn't seem right with the fins. Elise: My process of adding exige side scoops
My request is only for the lower front 3 as of now. I found that after botching the first attempt with the customcargrills.com small hex mesh, that someone with more skill and patience would deserve my money. My attempt did fit, but its wasn't smoothly bent with the nose and I cut it a little bit narrow. So, its a waste of metal. I kinda worry about the strength of the material too. The eliseusa.com version looked ok, but I would rather have the mesh recessed like the exige. Their version comes out almost flush with the nose and the size of the mesh does not look to be similar to the factory, a bit wide. It probably wouldn't bother me as much if it was more recessed and therefore wouldn't get as much light/attention. I would like to be able to replace the mesh without removing the front clam, but will just do it if it is required to get a good fit. It might be especially difficult for the oil cooler openings. A current oil cooler fin ate a bird at 60MPH without damage. Reinforcing mesh in the front may be difficult and maybe that is why lotus stretched them on the inside. Another detail, it would be nice if the center piece would have a hole for the tow ring and would also use tabs in the current holes and secure at the top with the factory clips. Keep us posted on developments.
