Moved the "Engine Start" button to the center console on my Elise

Lets say you are sitting at pit out idling in a line of cars waiting for the track to go green - start of session, black flag all waiting for an on track issue to clear, whichever. And let's say the infamous, intermittent warm idle stall decides to happen right then. With my shoulder belts tightened, I can't reach the start button. So, loosen belts, restart car, tighten belts, possibly pulling out of line to do so because when bad timg hits, it hits all around and the track goes green while you are sitting there like a lump.

Yep. Happened.

That said, I'm not sure I could reach the button in that position either.

I appreciate everyone's comments! I'm really enjoying the different look, and in the future I may take SwingLo's suggestion and mount something useful in the blank space where the start button used to be.

For sure... didn't mean to imply that. I should have said my personal preference for my street-oriented car at this time is to keep the key because it doesn't bother me enough to mess with the ignition wiring, etc. right now -- BUT there is a cool factor for sure, no matter where the car is driven. I tend to flip-flop like a netted fish on decisions like this, so who knows what I may do next time I rip the interior out.

Hmm, maybe the button could be mounted somewhere closer: perhaps, for example, the side of the console next to the e-brake. That could turn out pretty sweet... and you wouldn't have to move the hazard button.

How about when you start the car by pressing the button on the key? It's easy in stock config since each hand does it's job and each button is on each side of your body. Now they are on the same side of your body. Must be a bit odd to contort to start the car. LOL

You must me a pretty small person? Strapped in tight to the seat I can put my hands on the windshield if I wanted.

Not sure why the seat is even adjustable, other than a little kid who doesn't have it slid all the way back and wishing it went back another 4-5"?

Ty Ara, and you make a good point. I've been doing everything with my right hand now, but yeah, I could contort like I'm in a circus act to get the quickness of a two-handed start... I need to try this now! Just a couple starts a day and I would never need to take a yoga class again. Ok well just let me know when you want to go jet plane style and relocate your start button to the headliner and I am available.
