I don't think there are any other outlets. The price and service on this item would not want me to shop around either. I wish I had not delayed in getting mine.

I just used the standard foam tape mounting and do notice the gaps necessitating all the efforts darkSol went through. I originally thought it was from the previous descriptions.

Excellent post. You've cured my aesthetic problem with the Multivex mirror.(which was stupid in the first place, since they work, and "form follows function", right?).

2 questions:
1) How thick is the desk tray?
2) It looks like the silicone will prohibit the double-stick tape from adhering to the plastic backing over a lot of the surface, particularly after it squishes around. Would the finished mod look better if the tape was removed, you used more silicone, and the glass sat 1-2 mm closer to the backing? I've used silicone as glue an found that it works really well-plus, there's the epoxy holding it on.

Somewhere between 1/8" and 3/16"... not quite 1/4"

I didn't want to remove the tape because I didn't want the TAPE residue AND I though that the extra adhesion oomph with it was better (just in case). I made sure that the epoxy/silicone would flow around the tape - not behind it.

I wanted to make sure that you would have to physically destroy the housing before the mirror would fall off. Last thing I wanted was to go over a speedbump in my parking garage and hear "CRASH!"

Hope this helps!

driver's side only?

Anyone just install one on the driver's side? I do not notice as much of a blind spot on the passenger side. Does that one make that much difference that I should install both?

Definitely install both!! You will be surprised at how much more you see even on the passenger side.

Yea, what they said.

The passenger side mirror is convex, but the Multivex mirror has a changing (increasing) convex shape. Not only do you see what your'd see in the regular convex mirror (what's beside you), but the outside edge shows what's in the next lane over too. Every little bit helps. I'm thinking about getting them for my Miata since I'm so used to them on the Elise...

I installed mine about two weeks ago with the supplied tape, and the gap between the mirrors is tiny. I did not see any need for the silicone. Posssibly the tape they are now using is thinner?

Any pics? I've been thinking of getting these, but the cosmetic complaints have caused me to delay me decision...

The tape they are using now IS thinner than the original sets..... The mirror has also undergone revisions; and the current mirror that is in production ( which is the final cut ) is VERY close to the the plastic frame. It is not the same mirror it was 6 months ago. ( MY car was the prototype for all the mirror set calculations )

Believe me folks, ( and I've had the mirrors before anyone else got them ).. they are worth their weight in gold. theyre very easy to install...they've gone through a zillion car washings.....the tape does not come off unless you want it to. MY car has had about 6 sets of mirrors on it so far. IF for some reason you need to take the mirror off again.... just get a piece of heavy dental floss and "scissor" the floss behind the mirror.... it'll come off fairly easily. If anyone has any more questions, let me know...

6 sets? That statement really needs an explanation.

I have an early set, and I replaced the thick mounting tape at the time with the thinner, stronger mounting tape from 3M. It sounds like they are delivering with the thinner tape now.

As I said, my car was the test car for all the mirror samples the DESIGNER tried.... we tried a variety of different curvatures and measurements. I thought that the present design and curvature was the best for our car, and thats the one he went with.

Definitely do both sides. It's CHEAP... about $70 if I recall. As mods go, that's cheap, and the bang is huge.

I didn't take any time at all to get used to them. But, as a dentist, I'm used to working with a mirror!

I would love to see the installed pictures of the final production mirror (without having to remove the old mirror).

What was the time frame of the "final production" version of the mirror? I wonder if they changed from when I bought mine?

Thanks for posting a pic; looks great. I really don't appreciate any gap at all. Any complaints?

On the ordering page, it seems as though we share the exact mirror size with a Rover Metro and an MGF. You can't really specify when you purchase. Is this correct?
