One more for the Multi-Vex Mirrors.
I, too, know how to properly adjust mirrors, and have taught my wife and both kids how to do it. I've been adjusting my mirror like the referenced web site indicates for more than the last 30 years - it's nothing new. But the Multi-Vex mirrors give a much wider field of view. Highly recommended. If you haven't tried them, you really should. Lotus should make them standard, but I'm sure that they aren't allowed by Federal regulations on a new car. I just wish Lotus could make a "factory replacement" mirror for "racing use only", so that they could be mounted right instead of "glued on" with silicone...

I also know how to adjust side mirrors. (I know most normal people do NOT.) However, with the Elise, the Multivex mirrors make seeing what's next to me SO much better.

Mirrors have some strict DOT requirements in the US. The best we can do is to get the word out that there IS better than flat-left and convex-right side glass out there.
Multivex has an awesome product. They could use a little work in the fit & finish area, though. Mine too looked like they were cut with a chisel. I've also thought about using something like one of Randy's camera mount suction cups to force the stock mirrors free of the mounts. Any chance that the adhesive would be the weak link, or would I rip my whole mirror housing into pieces? |

If MultiVex sold a mirror to replace the glass in that assembly, I would have purchased two new ones, broken out the glass and installed the proper MultiVex. Unfortunately, they only sell the mirrors sized to fit over the original glass. Still, though, I don't notice that they are "add-ons" on my car at all...

I knew I get a reaction from that. I hope I have not offended You.
Try as I might I was never able to get a full view with the stock mirrors. Always I had a blind spot on either side. I could get sight lines on cars coming up on me, but not in the traditional blindspots.

I've adjusted the mirrors so that I can just see the edge of the rear fender. With the regular mirrors that isn't an option without creating a blind spot. I've decided I like being able to see the edge of the fender on the Elise since it's been easy to bump the mirror into some unknown position creating a potenital hazard. Adjusted so I can see the fenders, I still have phenomenal coverage of the area to the side and behind me with no blind spots in the adjacent lanes and great coverage beyond. Highly recommended. Multivex was a pleasure to deal with as well. You don't _need_ them but they really are worth having. |

second that
Wth the warmer weather this pastweek, I mounted the Multivex mirrors last week end, also over the existing glass. It is quite a nice improvement on both sides of the vehicle. Recommended!

The two sides are apparently different. The multivex logo should be on the "inside" if that helps (the little stamping on one end of the mirror) -- now you're down to 2 configurations!
Cheers

I installed mine a few weeks ago. I was a bit disappointed that they weren't a better fit -- they definitely could have been larger, to fit the entire mirror. It's not really noticeable, once they're mounted, but the size is definitely off. All in all, tho, you really don't notice that they're an add-on.
I like the additional coverage, tho I'm still getting used to them. They're pretty strange to use. I realized immediately, tho, just how useful they are. Wanted to move over one lane, and saw a car next to me I never would have seen in a standard passenger-side mirror.
