I also thought about throwing this ugly and rattling plastic piece behind the seats out and substitute it with alcantara. Anybody done this already?

I'm still waiting on my interior bits... my center console will be the reverse of willhogan's, leather with alcantara shift and brake boots. It's been two months since I ordered...

4 months for mine, after the first arrived from Lotus UK damaged

I think this looks great and had planned to do something similar for mine but Lotus UK suggested Alcantara on the center console is not a good idea - absorbs moisture which can make its way onto the seat runners causing corrosion. Leather was their obvious recommendation. Something to consider for those thinking about it.

So, after waiting around 3 months (I've lost track of the actual time) for the Lotus Trim Shop to finish my center console, instrument cowl, and A/C surround, the day finally arrived! I hastily drove to the dealer (actually I rarely need an excuse to drive hastily) in anticipation. Everything looked great... except... even though my dealer made sure that the Trim Shop had my VIN... they neglected to put the hole for the traction control button into the console. #$^@!

So, the console goes back for another try

On the other hand, I installed the instrument cowl and A/C surround. Both are finished in Alcantara. When the center console finally makes it here with a place to put the TC switch, it'll be leather with Alcantara boots for the shifter and handbrake...

Symbolic Motors comes through!

They were able to add the T/C switch hole and cut the leather around the hole perfectly... nice work! So now the leather and alcantara console is in place with the alcantara instrument cowl and A/C surround. Added the "Stan Shifter Mod" at the same time...

Apk919, do you have the dash done as well? I'm referring to the forward piece that reaches all the way to the edge of the windshield... I can't tell from the pic.

Overall, awesome.

The main reason I want to do this is to cut glare from the plastic, so the priority would be the all of the horizontal dash, the binnacle, and the vents... anything below that would be nice for completeness, but not vital. I've thought about doing this for a long time. I love the F430 Scuderia interior, as an example.

Or I could just remember to bring the polarized sunglasses...

Thanks! The top of the dash is still stock... the only pieces I had done were the binnacle, a/c surround, and the center console. Anthony at Symbolic helped me out... the factory messed up the order, but he was able to make it right (see the previous posts).
