I hope they replace it I am very disappointed with this product.
I'm sorry, but we have not received any communication from you , which would explain why we have not phoned back.

We are happy to discuss this problem with you and replace parts as necessary. We are in the office for the rest of the week. Please phone or email at your convenience.

Are you claiming that a wedgie fixed your broken bone? Can someone concur on this fix??

Are you saying that increasing piston speed too quickly could result in a bent or broken bone? Would some sort of lubrication help with that? Maybe this??

I agree, very poor engineering concept in my opinion.

The need for the solution is also suspect, how important can it be that the lid opens by itself?

It seems some people are really scraping the barrel when they try to find things they can sell Lotus owners.

No offence intended.........

Do you have a better idea? It can't be "very poor" unless there's an obvious alternative.

Important enough that a lot of people have bought them. I've been tempted to get one - it really IS a hassle to try to open the trunk when carrying anything. It's suspect to me that you don't understand the importance yet purportedly own an Elise?

the product doesn't cause the lid to open itself - it _holds_ the lid open. and i'd say it's pretty "important" considering how many people on here jumped at the chance to buy one (myself included).
it's obvious that you don't use the trunk of your elise much...

The best thing it does is prevent someone from raising the lid too high and banging the rollbar cover. My paint has been chipped twice from that while the car was being serviced. Also, the lid is supported in a higher position than with the prop rod. I think there's plenty of play in the mechanism to compensate for engine movement.

Yeah, but remember the days of our youth, before our cars' bodies had that extra layer around the mid-section (the "rollbar cover" as you call it), when we could raise it all the way up and not hit anything?

The evaluation of an engineering solution has nothing to do with there being "an obvious alternative". If its flawed, its flawed. Connecting body panels to the engine is ridiculous. Its bad engineering to do it.

I said i felt the need for the solution is suspect. I never said there is no need. I personally do not find lifting the lid of my lightweight sportscar by hand such a big problem. If you do, fair enough.

For the record i am not a troll, i did own an elise (i will update my profile) and i was trying to be polite.

I used the "trunk" of my elise regularly for the six years i owned it. I also use the trunk of my current Exige regularly.

I just do not think its so difficult that i need a mechanism to do it.

That's funny, as the "current Exige" comes with "a mechanism" built in.

For the record, I did over a 100 miles at Big Willow yesterday with the lidbone and no problems whatsoever. In my experience, when installed properly, there's more than enough play in the lidbone not to cause any issues.
